Rubinacci pricing question
Hello LL,
Does the price Rubinacci charge for various bespoke items vary from one of their locations to another? For example, do you pay the same price at their store in London for a jacket, or shirt, or tie, or pants, etc. as you would in Naples? I've just never seen very detailed pricing information for them and thought I'd ask.

Based on the ability to pay, in the owner's perception would be my guess. I would not get near this machine,
I suppose that it doesn't take much courage to anonymously call a man a thief.Anonymous wrote:Based on the ability to pay, in the owner's perception would be my guess. I would not get near this machine,
Yes, there is a price list. They rebalance the UK and Italy prices every year or two so that they are the same. That is for suits. I have no idea for shirts.
Fair enough.Anonymous wrote:Just expressing an opinion, thnak you.
There is a lot that can be said good and bad about any tailor, Rubinacci included. However, it is pretty well known that they are the only Naples based tailor that actually has a pricing structure. Most of the others are known to go up depending on how much of a mark you seem to be. Rubinacci, perhaps because of his size, or perhaps because of his beliefs does not work on this model. With the others, I have heard that one never knows what the price for somebody else might be.
The pricing structure is the same as that used on Savile Row, except the prices are listed including VAT rather than excluding as is the practice with the English tailors. 80% or so of the suits are the same price from the "basic" fabrics. The others are more expensive based on the cost of the cloth. They are marked by group and each group has its own price on the list.
That is the structure, Alden has asked that people not disclose or discuss pricing on his site, so it is probably better to respect his wishes.

He has? Where?Anonymous wrote:Alden has asked that people not disclose or discuss pricing on his site.
Jeez, what a bunch of swirling nonsense. I am almost reluctant to get in on this.
To the OP, I believe the price for a suit is 2800 GBP VAT inclusive, which is just about the same as most Savile Row guys. I don't know know the price in Naples, so I cannot comment.
My question is why was all of the ruckus in here necessary to finally get a straight answer? I can only assume we have a client unsatisfied with his suit, or somebody who likes to stir trouble. I haven't had a suit done there, so I don't know how often clients are unsatisfied. It would be an interesting question. Have many people seen the work?

Why fall tor the slick promotional literature or posh Mount Street address? You could find nearby a maker with a royal warrant from the King of Bulgaria if you're that impressionable.
I really can't understand why Rubinacci gets singled out for its posh shop and slick sales staff in the land of posh shops and slick sales staffs.
If that price quote is accurate, it would put them towards the upper range of Savile Row, though not at the top.
I am a big fan of what I have seen of their style and I accept that some - perhaps many - are not. But to cast aspersions about their priving structure which seems to be very much in line with the rest of London and New York doesn't make much sense to me.

Doctor, what do you have against the Bulgarians?Anonymous wrote:Why fall tor the slick promotional literature or posh Mount Street address? You could find nearby a maker with a royal warrant from the King of Bulgaria if you're that impressionable.
I like the posting where the guy goes in to get some shirts from them: specifically asks for non fused collars. What does he get? Fused collar. At those prices, why the need to try to palm it off on the customer? Of course you get lovely ambience with a fawning stylist.
