What says the group on sleeve lengths for overcoats/topcoats?

A) Same as for suit jacket

B) Cut as long as shirt cuff (i.e., longer than jacket sleeve) but don't sweat it if a little shirt shows from time to time

C) Long enough that you NEVER see shirt

D) Varies by application

I go for C. Long enogh to cover coat sleeve and shirt cuff.

I tried on a few of my coats. Seems like most of them, hit to about an inch below my wristbone. Some people like them shorter, others like them longer. I've seen some men wearing coat sleeves that extend past their knuckles. For me, that's too long . . . looks a little frumpy. But each, to his own.

I'd go for option "C.", covering cuffs of both sackcoat and shirts. For me, it looks better and (in this cold winter) feels better, overlapping with gloves.

I'll say D. If it is a lightweight overcoat - one that could be worn in lieu of a suit coat - I like the sleeves to fit as they would on a suit coat. If it is one that is to be worn over a coat, than I prefer the sleeves to cover my shirt and coat.
