Is it really necessary to have a "stiff" brush for pants and a "soft" brush for jackets (or a combo, like the two-sided Kent model)? I have heard this wisdom before, but if the cloth is the same, why the need for two different types of brush bristle?

You are more likely to have dried mud splashed on your trousers hems after a rainy day. This might require a stiffer brush for removal.

Image . . . my favorite, clothes brush. It lifts fibers, and renews finish. Superb for blazers and coats. Available at the Vermont Country Store.

Ouch! I had one and threw it away as the metal tines kept priciking my fingers.
