Are there any good tailors in Edinbugh? Or is a person better off visiting Savile Row or one of the independent tailors that have relocated to the north of England?

I'd suggest the latter option - I searched for a good tailor when living in Edinburgh and failed to find one. It doesn't mean they don't exist, but everyone I asked went to London tailors.

Stewart Christie on Queen St makes mtm suits, in addition to kilts and all that Scottish kit. I haven't been able to find a bespoke tailor there, either.

Ede & Ravenscroft are decent, but not sure if they do a bespoke service in Edinburgh.

Peter Johnston is based in Edinburgh.

He supposedly offers a bespoke service (individual paper pattern, etc.), although he appears to be aiming to be a luxury menswear brand like Spencer Hart. In fact, exactly like Spencer Hart, he appears to have been a design director at the late Chester Barrie for some time. I have no experience with him, so do what you like what this info. Just throwing the name out.

Agreed. Being a fan of Spencer Hart, and, having moseyed around Peter Johnston, it's like bebop without the bop. Ede & Ravenscroft, on the other hand, do indeed offer a bespoke tailoring service. Great for foot and neckwear too. Which reminds me, I left one of their beautiful pink numbers wrapped around the thigh of a lemon-lipped fatale from Brooklyn... Such a great tie. Such a waste.
