Flannel Chalk Stripe

What width of chalk stripe, and seperation width between them, do you prefer for an elegant, striking flannel?

THe H&S stripes below seem a bit narrow, and the 1 inch seperation, also a bit narrow.

What is within the bounds of good taste, yet striking?

I love the red overcheck on that bottom cloth.

An inch and an eighth is my personal preference for spacing.

Depends on your size. I am rather thin, so 1" is the limit for me, lest I be overwhelmed. Most of my stripes in th 5/8"-7/8" category.

The pale stripe of the top cloth is the width I like, seperated by between three quarters and one inch. A little more is acceptable for me but never less.

I suppose width and separation of stripe choice does relate to your height.

Although if you've seen Larry Kudlows of CNBC, and his wide separation, and we don't know how tall he is as he sitting down in front of the camera, there must be 1 1/2 inch separation between the stripes.

It's a pretty noticeable cloth.

Should one err on the side of boldness or conservatism?

This issue has generally always been a little confusing to me; on one hand, we hear of the ethic to be subtle and moderate in style, yet on the other hand, bold and individual in choice of cloth.

Wherein lies the golden mean?
