I have been offered several „vintage“ Dormeuil Towntex fabrics. Are they any good? Would you consider them anywhere near „good old vintage quality“...?

If they are 15 or 20 years old they're good.

Thank you!
I have further inquired, turned out that the current owner has no information about the production dates of the fabrics, but was rather praising their „vintag-like qualities“...
I have found some John Foster, will rather go for these.

True vintage Dormeuil Towntex was an amazing heavy, multi ply, durable fabric, made for town unlike its more country big brother Sportex. Recently Dormeuil reintroduced a 12oz or possibly less "vintage" Towntex with cashmere that has nothing to do with the original in terms of cloth quality other than the slightly retro looking patterns. If its the old stuff go for it. otherwise avoid the new "vintage".

Its an all too common marketing ploy that mills are using these days: they release dumbed down versions of their old classic fabrics and tout them as "vintage." Buyer Beware.

If you can find real vintage Sportex or old Reid & Taylors...BUY IT! I know a few people who have stock of these real classics and they rightfully ask as high as $1200 a meter.

These are the kinds of qualities we are making in the London Lounge Cloth Club! Get involved in the club all you newcomers.

Pre-Dunsford cloth should be $1200/meter.
