Just wondering here what fabrics and makers you recommend I take a look at...?

Think a hot, humid European summer evening wearing the jacket to say a nice bar or restaurant.

I’d like a cloth that says summer: patterned, a bit bright and colorful, Summer weight.

I don’t have access to a tailor’s book of Summer jacketing, so have just been looking at what I can find on line.

These 2 Fox Bros. cloths below are sort of what I have in mind.

Also, I wonder if the Italian mills or distributors would be a better place to search than the English mills, for what I have in mind...?

I've handled samples of the Fox Brothers summer weights and was underwhelmed. Not a patch on the stuff the Club can make. There's some nice options in the LL Linen book, both subdued and sudden.

Fox can make superb cloth. It just doesn't do it for the mass market books where the cloth needs to be priced to allow for three levels of mark up. For this destination, Fox will use its most modest and inexpensive qualities.

BUT, let me place an order at Fox, and I'll have them singing a whole different tune. I will push them to make the archival qualities that are too expensive for the books.

Look you can go into a restaurant and order a bowl of soup and a plate of fish and chips.....or a full five star palate dazzling French gourmet experience. Its the same with the mills. (I know this does not sink in and is relatively futile to explain, but I can't help myself, so forgive me. ) The problem comes in when you guys pay French gourmet prices for fish and chips. And you do, you don't know it, but you do!

Myself , and another top NYC tailor, were very sceptical when we heard about The LL having Fox Bros. mill their Flannel. But when we received the samples we both agreed whole heartedly that it was the best, most worthy Flannel we had EVER handled. I thought I knew good Flannel, but Mr.Alden schooled me. He took my understanding of Flannel to a whole new level. And he also took my level of understanding regarding Linen to a whole new level.

Re LL Linen: I had the opportunity to browse through the LL linen book last week at my shirtmaker. It simply is of the best quality imaginable. I have to order a jacket length of the navy herringbone.

Thank you. You have been here from the very start and your interest and support of our efforts is gratifying. YES, the LL linen book is the best quality linen made today. Its the expensive to make quality that distributors cannot afford to sell. And it is available in only one place, The LL (as usual.)

I hope the members will take advantage of the great opportunity to acquire these exceptional linens. The mill went to great lengths to make these available to us and every order we make is a thank you for their efforts.
