I would like to know which coat you deem practical and stylish for wear over a suit when the weather is too warm for an overcoat and an umbrella won't do, because it is either too windy, too rainy or both.

Dear DonB,

I have a reversible raincoat from New & Lingwood for this purpose. My model is no longer available, but they have a new one: http://www.newandlingwood.com/runcorn-long-raincoat-tan

Cheers, David

Thank you. At the moment I think it is going to be either N&L or Grenfell in camel.

I would still go with Cordings. This one in fact:

I wear my fathers Burberry cotton raincoat (from the 1980s). A covert coat might do if made from light weight cloth, i have one from Henry Poole which i think is a cashmere mix and wears far too hot so its used only when cold.

I have a Cordings bonded cotton rain coat but it causes me to sweat if I am on the tube for more than 15 mins.
