Coat hanger dimensions

Dear Members,

I am just wondering what the ideal width of the shoulder flare for a coat hanger should be. Anything broader than 4 cm at a shoulder width of 40 cm is not so easy to get hold of. Do you think that is wide enough or would, e.g. 6 cm be better?

Dear Castle:

I'm a 49 Regular in jacket size. Some of my jackets are 48 Reg. and others are 50 Reg.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to try a Woodlore hanger that really seems to work well for jackets, suits, and even topcoats. My jackets fit on this hanger very nicely.

When I'm able to gather the funds I'm planing on ordering them for my closet.

The link is below of the hanger.

Alternatively, try Toscanini (http://www.toscaninisumisura.it/en/eventi_fiere.html) who supply to bespoke tailors like Huntsman. They are sized from 40cm to 51cm in 2-3cm increments but I should add that no hanger, no matter how well crafted, will completely support your coats and some padding added over the flared ends might help.
