other tailors in London
Many of Chris Kerr's clients can be found on-screen, either on television or the big screen. One notable individual, for whom Chris has made a number of items, is Johnny Depp.
Here's some images of my first fitting with Chris Kerr. Apologies for the quality of the pics, the wife is still getting used to the camera.
She did somehow manage to make my face look better in this shot though.
As you can see, there's a few minor changes to be made -
The shoulders need pulling in a bit, I'd like the jacket length to be just fractionally shorter and, as I've lost a bit of weight since the initial measurements were taken, the waistline needs reducing. That should ensure the trouser/pant length is perfect.
I was quite shocked to see the seems etc. inverted. None of my previous tailors have worked in such a way.
I'm pretty pleased with the way things are going so far though. Chris is a really friendly guy and is very focused on ensuring everything is just right.
The cloth is from Scabal's Triple 'A' Super 120's bunch. It is a mixture of wool and cashmere and has a lovely texture running through it.

I recently had a second fitting with Chris. You can see how the suit is really beginning to take shape now.
I've used Apsley Tailors before and was very pleased with the service and product, they are not as traditional as other SR tailors in that they do not have a particular style/cut that they are know for. But if you know what you want they will make it for you; they are very reasonably priced as well.

Interesting. A quick glance at "Apsley Tailors'" website shows it to be the London outpost of a Hongkong tailor. Nothing about prices, but one might guess Hongkong quality in London would sell for a price between that for the same goods in HK and SR prices (regardless of where the goods are actually made up). Perhaps the writer of the previous, unsigned posting could give us more information.

Only to happy to pass on more information. My brother already had an existing business relationship with Apsley and at the time of our last purchase we actually arranged a discount with them as we were purchasing 4 suits and some additional trousers (not sure if this is how they do business as a general rule). Like at any other tailor depending on the fabric one chooses, this will be reflected in the price; but each fully made suit came to under £600. For that price I thought the suit that I got in return was excellent. They were more than happy to make any changes that I requested and the service itself after a few fittings was very prompt.
For those of you interested in the finished article from Chris Kerr, please see the attached pics -
Please excuse the odd backdrop to the two main pictures. The original background was somewhat fussy making it difficult to pick out detail on the suit, so I had little choice but to edit the shots within Photoshop.
I have to say that I am absolutely delighted with the results and would happily recommend Chris to anyone.
I would be interested in some feedback for those willing to offer it.
Best regards

For anyone interested in the work of Chris Kerr, take a look at the "Director's Cut" article found within "Live", the Mail on Sunday supplement for men, dated 9th March. There is a very interesting two-page spread on the work both Eddie and Chris have done for the film industry.
