If you are interested in craftsmanship, bespoke, paper patterns, obsession, perfectionism and eccentricity, you may find this 26 minute film about the Parisian women’s designer - Ezzedine Alaia interesting.

Extreme Bespoke
Thank you for posting, UC.
I finally got the time to watch this short film today, and find out that Alaia died just last month.

This is true bespoke.
Not slight variations evolving from a standard house style which we men call bespoke.
Here, original creations, no two alike, imagined and produced by creative geniuses.
There are many, many, Alaia - in this film, but so many more artists.
Of course women’s couture and men’s tailoring have vastly different limitations and scope for creativity, design and innovation.
Still, men’s bespoke - thought to be an expression of individuality - is a very poor relative for the creativity allowed women.
I don’t know if Dandyism is the antidote or the response, but certainly, dandies are much more exuberant and free from societally imposed expectations and restraints, and are fantastically expressive in their dress. Certainly much more so than mainstream bespoke dressing. Very interesting.
