So, I'm in need of new hosiery, but unfortunately the selection in my area is, well, non-existent.

Does anyone know a good on-line source? It should preferably be European.

Thanks.

Heartily recommend Tabio, a Japanese brand. Their ribbed, mid-calf socks are excellent. Website UK-based; shops in London.

Unfortunately, not anymore. The sweet life in Paris was only a short termed adventure of 4 months. Now, I've returned to Denmark to live in Copenhagen, which is altogether not the worst place in matters sartorial. We have at least four bespoke tailors and one of them is even reputedly very good (I have yet to try him myself). Two of them are also shirt makers. Then we have Petigas; a simply formidable hat store. The oldest Borsalino-retailer left in the world (104 years I think), this is a true old world gem.

Socks, however, are not readily available to my knowledge.

J.S:

You might try Pantherella in the United Kingdom, quite a good maker of hosiery for men that is available in wool, cashmere-and-wool blends, novelties (read: sporty), and silks for evening wear. There was a wonderful store in Milan, whose name escapes me, that made hosiery to your specific measurements in every color and length imaginable. Not sure it exists anymore, but I recall it was a stone's throw away from Valextra. Fogal in Paris, which is probably better known for women's hosiery these days, used to make beautiful hosiery for men in a cotton and cashmere blend. Perhaps the manufacturer still does. Searching for socks these days is truly a hit-and-miss situation. If you find something you really like, buy more than you will ever need. Stock up!

Panterella socks can be had on the Woods of Shropshire site.
