I say yes and suggest both a Facebook group and a Fan page but would welcome your opinions.

I do not consider myself an expert on the subject, but as far as I know, setting this up is not really complicated. I would definitely be willing to help.

I have set the group up with myself as the initial administrator. I have sent Michael the details so that he and his moderators can take control of it.

I have put the settings as private for now because I put in some trial content. Michael and/or Costi will need to agree the wording of descriptions, who runs it, content etc. Please be patient.

A group has more functionality, e.g. discussions, but you have to visit it to get updates. A fan page's wall updates appear on fans' walls automatically.

I am at a loss to understand why this would be an advantage.

I am committed to not joining any social networking site (I joined one once and have regretted it ever since) and personally have no interest whatsoever in London Lounge being on Facebook.

Please can someone explain to me what is wrong with the current arrangements.

No it shouldn't , a gentlemen’s forum should not be part of the post modern need of the world to gossip and indiscreetly be involved in other people's personal life . What a downfall would that be for the LL .

Please put me down for a vote against, as well. I can see nothing 'elegant' about such web-sites - it would be like a 'Chap' using a 'mobile' telephone - or anything it would do that is not possible here. However, if others wish, then let them.

I agree with the three negative posts above; thumbs down to Facebook!

"Functionality"? "Page Walls"? "Fan Walls"? I will be texting my son shortly to see what all this means and how it will improve our lives.....

Facebook has its uses, but it must be considered:

(1) Facebook LLC claim ownership of the images one posts there, in perpetuity. They can even use your images for marketing, or sell them as stock images. Does one wish for this?

(2) Facebook is blocked by state censors in China (and many other countries). www.thelondonlounge.net is not (apart from Taliban-controlled areas of Afghanistan. The lack of long beards to go with the suits upsets them, and they don't have electricity anyway).

An LL Facebook page may be good for attracting new members to the fora, but I hope the existing forum infrastructure will remain.

Keep up the great work!
