I notice that on 80% or more of shirts that the collar band shows above the tie.
On $100 shirts and $500 shirts.
It's a mistake in the making of the collar.
Is it because the collar is cut too high and cannot hold the tie? Or the collar is cut too loosely to hold the tie in place?
How to overcome this major issue which makes even the nicest shirts look unkempt and a tailoring failure?
Tie Gap
It is often a matter of either insufficient tie space (the knot is slowly pushed down by the collar leaves), or of a too large knot for the given spread of the collar.

I have shirts with NO tie space which never show the band.
And shirts WITH tie space which most often show the band.
And vice versa.
So I think that it is an issue other than the space.
Whatever it is, I find it very untidy and makes an expensive shirt look poorly.
Manton mentioned somewhere that the collar band just above the button should be cut at a sharp angle down; so it may be a cutting issue.

I trust that you are keeping your knots tie, so that the necktie itself pulls up as high and close as possible?

It must, surely, ultimately, be a question of compatability between proportions of tie and collar. After all, you could tie a piece of string around a collar and have no push-down.
