Gentlemen,

I have recently purchased a pair of patent leather oxfords. Now I have only one problem - how do I clean and protect them? To the best of my knowledge, normal shoe wax polish (I use Kiwi) will ruin them.

An hour's worth of searching on the internet only revealed petroleum jelly as a possible cleaning agent. I searched this forum, but didn't seem to be able to find anything that helped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as so far I have been too afraid to wear them out of the house without some idea of what to do if anything goes wrong (scuffs, etc).

Petroleum jelly is a treatment and another tip is to pllace them in a warm oven for a few minutes before going out in the cold - as this prevents cracking.
