Re: English people in London?

I'm not sure it's fits the exact criteria you are going for waitstaff wise, but the Woseley has plenty of British food and at least some Brits dining usually.

Mews of Mayfair does a fair Sunday Roast.

Re: Moleskin Trousers

... one rarely sees them in America. Wonder why? This may be more a consequence than an explanation for low popularity: many gentlemen catalogues in the US (Orvis, Peterman, Ben Silver, etc.) do regularly offer moleskin trousers for a variety of purposes that range from hunting, horseback riding an...

Re: Pairing trousers with a hopsack blazer

It is all down to personal taste but, given that I am now on the wrong side of 60 but my measures are pretty much exactly the same as they were when I was 30, I really enjoy wearing a beautifully made blazer or tweed coat with a pair of jeans and suede loafers because, when I do, most folk who don'...

Re: The role of bespoke in a relaxed environment

Hear, hear, Luca. On this topic, I'm put in mind of our quiet member Bill (voxsartoria) and his Tumblr—and even more, I think, his Instagram—sites, which have been mentioned on the LL recently. Many of us have followed Vox over the years on the menswear forums and enjoy his new sites, and of course...

Re: Coming to an end of a 15 year relationship ...

A large part of bespoke is the personal relationship. This. And it is almost impossible to describe to someone who hasn't had that sort of interaction. I just took a good friend for his first measurement and fitting with Poole last month, was probably more excited for him to meet the guys than to s...

Re: "Frames"

What Alden advocates for is an English approach to dressing. Sober frame, wild shirting & tie. Neapolitans, IMHO, dress in opposite way -- solid blue / bengal stripe shirt, small floral tie, wild coats. How Lagrange... I mean, Huntsman wants their clients to dress, is a different story. Andrey Hunt...

Re: Bespoke shirtmaker

I still find the notion that people have taken the definition of bespoke and narrowed it to a hilariously specific set of motions fairly odd. If you are having a shirt, suit, or any other particular item made from scratch to your shape and specifications, it's bespoke. Personally, I'd never want a 1...

Re: Bespoke shirtmaker

I'm fairly convinced muslin fittings aren't necessary,.. In my more that 40 years of experience with custom made shirts I have found that the presence of muslin fittings is significantly and positively correlated with final good fit and quality of construction. But I suspect that the muslin fitting...

Re: Bespoke shirtmaker

I'm fairly convinced muslin fittings aren't necessary, but if someone enjoys and values that part of the process, then by all means go to someone who does it. That said, I know several London makers, who by any definition are bespoke. The muslin shirt is not a requirement for the bespoke label, nor...
