The ancient madder silk scarf. A thing of the past?
Hello gentlemen. I recently decided to treat myself to an ancient madder silk Paisley pattern scarf, but I didn’t realise just how out of favour they seem to be. An Internet search before popping into town showed that Drake’s seemed to be the only clothier that stocked them. Upon arriving in London ...

Re: My first bespoke Dinner Jacket
Hello hectorm. Agreed! The SB, low cut, horseshoe style of waistcoat is very pleasing on the eye and to my mind would set off a stiff-fronted shirt very well indeed. Tell me, does your waistcoat have a collar? I know most military mess dress waistcoats do, but civilian equivalents seem to be thin on...

Re: My first bespoke Dinner Jacket
This is particularly crucial when being at your best wearing black-tie. And that is the role of a cummerbund (or better indeed a waistcoat) with a SB jacket, or the role of an always fastened DB jacket. Hello schmayck. My wife and I have owned a number of Land Rovers of the last 10 years or so, and I'm trying to convince her we need a 2 door Range Rover Classic in Lincoln Green to add to our stable. The original Range Rover imo is a true British design classic which has been copied the world over, ...

Re: First post
Thank you for the welcome gentlemen. To answer your question Costi, I'm finding the articles on the Savile Row tailors to be a fascinating insight. I had a suit made by Kashkets about 10 years ago, and until some shirts I've recently taken delivery of, I've not been down the bespoke route since. I'm...

Re: My first bespoke Dinner Jacket
John, I currently have a RTW DB dinner jacket without vents, and not only do I feel uncomfortable when sitting down, but I also feel at a loss what to do with my hands when standing up. If I ever get round to bespeaking another, I shall certainly ask for double vents. Undo the buttons before you si...
