Coat hanger dimensions

Dear Members,

I am just wondering what the ideal width of the shoulder flare for a coat hanger should be. Anything broader than 4 cm at a shoulder width of 40 cm is not so easy to get hold of. Do you think that is wide enough or would, e.g. 6 cm be better?

Re: Looking for a tailor and a cobbler in southern Germany

I can recommend POSH Schuhe, Friedrichstr. 230, Berlin. Both bespoke and repair.

Have you decided on the style of the bespoke suits etc. you prefer? You'll find lots of examples here to make up your mind. If possible don't restrict your decision by geography.

Re: My new coat

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the compliment.
The blue one certainly is not from LH.
Did you know that Solito now has a website? http://www.sartoriasolito.it

Re: My new coat

Costi,

The least thing I wanted was to complain. So far it has been a pleasure to work with this tailor :) But as it takes some time to travel to him I wanted to make sure that there is still some work to be done and not an issue that will disappear by itself after some time.

Re: My new coat

It is the work of a(n? is it read `Ell Ell' or `London Lounge') LL certified artisan. And I will be taking it back there. I'm a bit disappointed as this is the version after a previous alteration. Or is this normal for a first time commission? This thorn-proof donegal is probably not the easiest clo...

Re: My new coat

Unbuttoned it rests on the shoulder ends. But when I button it it seems to lift a bit near the shoulder. This can be made worse when I pull back my shoulders. Could it be too tight around the chest? There is a little padding at the end of the shoulder.

Re: My new coat

Micheal and Costi, Thank you for your kind attention. Take the measure on the collar from the center back seam to the intersecting point of the shoulder seam and collar..this is called the "back neck." It seems a bit too wide. The collar could grip your neck better. It is 7.5 cm; less than on the bl...

Re: My new coat

After one month it does look a bit different. Although I sometimes have the impression that the collar is still a bit wide. r2.jpg r3.jpg The second one is made from a softer cloth by a different tailor. s1.jpg Although similar there are some differences: shoulder width and lapel width. Which one su...

Re: My new coat

@Costi
That's the version after a first change last month. It is the first one made by him
for me.

@Michael
Yes, I agree.

My new coat

Gentlemen,

I would like to get your comments about my new coat. So far I am pleased with it.
The little issue around the neck might need a bit of work; the shirt cuffs could be
some mm higher. What are your thoughts?

Re: Advice for neapolitan tailor

Oh, I didn't even think this way
And nobody has yet made a suggestion with this in mind. I was thinking of one of the artisans recommended in the LL who will understand me.

Advice for neapolitan tailor

Gentlemen,

I will have one day to spend in Naples next month. As I am very tempted to get a true neapolitan sports coat I ask your views about
which tailor to visit. My Italian is more a passive than an active vocabulary so an English (or German?) speaking tailor would be first
choice?
