Re: The Myth of the Soft Shoulder

Wow. All this from a simple "phooey." I suppose I could whine that the apparent shape of me in the photos above is the result of camera angle and the static, two dimensionality of photography in general. I could say that, "but that would be wrong." Within the constraints of the medium, the pictures ...

No, mine. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Actually, I don't know the source, though I'm told that the RTW maker from whom I purchased all of these suits uses most of the usual British suspects for cloth.

Re: The Myth of the Soft Shoulder

Hmmmm .. These look nice ... Thanks, that's quite a compliment coming from you. I just measured the shoulder, pinched lightly between my thumb and forefinger at the sleeve head, on the suit I'm wearing today. It measures about 1/2 inch in thickness. The construction is exactly the same as those pic...

Re: The Myth of the Soft Shoulder

The soft shoulder is slovenly for a suit. It is not serious. It is not elegant. It is not meant for a suit. Phooey. http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/9318/postfullengthg.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1368/postcloseupv.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5743/postfullength.jpg http://img829...

Re: Double Breasted stripe widths?

Old Dog, what a wonderful display of striped DB's. What I really enjoy seeing is how they all fit the same. If you don't mind my asking, where did you have the suits made? Also, are they all done by the same tailor? Cufflink79 Thanks. Yes, they are all made by the same "tailor." Actually, the suits...

Re: Double Breasted stripe widths?

We're I to give guidance, I'd say that finer close stripes are more for business and wide chalks are more for fun. I agree. Hence, I wore all of these for business (including court appearances): http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8937/postclosed.jpg http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/8875/po...

Re: Madrid

Just returned from Spain, and Madrid would have been worth the visit if there were nothing there but Picasso's Guernica and the gallery of studies for it in the Reina SofĂa. Of course, there is so much more, much of it mentioned above. Not mentioned above, however, are the Carmina shoe stores where ...

Re: The Patterned Shirt

Oldog: Nice! What's your thought process for putting it all together in the mornings? Thanks. My thought when dressing is often "How confused will my wife be when I bid her goodbye wearing this?" The more confused, the better. Yesterday (she liked this one): http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/5200/...

Re: "English" shoemakers

As for British cars - go through a 'classic car' type of magazine and you will be astonished at the numbers of British car companies that there were - from Armstrong Siddley and Aston Martin and Austin .... NJS Right, so this limerick is meaningless to the youngsters: There once was a fellow from B...
