Re: Celebration Dinner in New York City

If you are willing to venture beyond the city limits (by way of short train ride from grand central terminal), then I would register an emphatic recommendation for blue hill at stone barns.

Re: London Barber

thanks again to all for the suggestions. I ended up popping into Trumpers on Curzon Street and not being at all displeased. a straight-razor shave plus haircut was quite humanizing (and well executed on both counts).

Re: London Barber

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. It is much appreciated. I'm finding myself a bit woolly these days and unable to get in to see my man on the home turf before heading out across the pond later this week, so I need to make alternate arrangements.

Re: Spring/Summer 2012 preview

on a somewhat related note, I tend to think that the herringbone shetland is a bit too light and springy/spongey textured to serve well as an overcoat, but I could of course be wrong.

Re: Anderson & Sheppard

In my (humble) opinion, Poole can be very good but there is also a fair amount of variability. I think it depends quite a bit on who your cutter is. I has positive experiences with Poole and, on that basis, referred a family member to them. the family member was assigned to a different (apparently, ...

Re: Good shirtmaker in UK

so, dear members (not to derail this thread entirely), what's a poor sod stuck in New York (who doesn't wish to pay Kabbaz rates) to do about getting some decently fitting shirts? I was thinking about going with one of the traveling UK outfits, but this thread has rained on that parade at least a li...

Question re: sourcing braces

gentlemen: does anyone happen to know of a good source for plain navy barathea braces of a quality level similar to thurstons? for some reason, it appears from the thurstons web site that plain navy barathea is not one of their offerings. I would be interested in any online sources you might be able...

Re: Can buttons make or break an outfit?

A&S also have the peculiarity of using two hole horn buttons on their jackets. I used to think this was a uniquely A&S touch, but my four Poole jackets and one from Steed all have two-hole buttons, and in none of these cases did I specifically request them. As an A&S alum I'm not surprised that Edw...
