Re: First bespoke suit: Firenze via Ōsaka

You can never go wrong with Dugdale. I guess you chose from their Royal Classic books. It is a gem.

Re: Custom belts

Making leather belts is one of my favorite hobbies. A few years back a very well known leather company in North America called Tandy Leather offered courses about how to make leather belts. Of course, the company sells leather, dyes.. I attended one of these courses (10 hours). I have since made at ...

Re: Tie Knots

It all depends on the thickness of the tie. Half Windsor in almost 80% of cases (lighter ties), four in hand in 20% (thicker ties).

Re: Hand crafted Sardinian Knives

Manself, What your friend did is quite common among Frenchmen. It is very traditional in France to own a lock knife, to keep it very sharp, carry it around and use it at restaurants. Quite often it is a 'Laguiole'. I am not an LVMH heir but I carry my own lock knife to restaurants too. At the end of...

Re: Blazer for Mike

Dear Davidhuh, Relativity and confusion are some of the characteristics of our times. The blazer originated from Royal Navy wear. Their navy coats had (still have? I am not certain) metal buttons. This is the blazer. Blazers blaze (shine) only because of metal, otherwise they would not. Mr Boyer can...

Re: Blazer for Mike

A blazer is a DB coat with metal buttons. No metal buttons: no blazer, just a DB coat.

Re: Cloth for first flannel?

Paborden,
You can buy directly from HFW (Minnis) online. They have some flannels on offer now, one of which is a navy in the 400 grs for 35 BP a metre, a steal for a flannel.
If you need heavier weight, nothing would be more appropriate than or as good as the LL flannel book from Fox.

Snapper,
I have a few pants made from the Minnis Fresco in the 280-310 grammes (9-10 ozs). They are absolutely great for the summer.

Re: Cloth for first casual tweed suit

Dear Younglawyer,
I know your question is about tweeds. If I were you I would choose a tweedy-like milled worsted. I would take the POW # 9467 from the Town classic book from Dugdale's. It is 14 ozs, of amazing quality and can be worn for the weekends, etc..
