Thank you!
I have further inquired, turned out that the current owner has no information about the production dates of the fabrics, but was rather praising their „vintag-like qualities“...
I have found some John Foster, will rather go for these.

Dormeuil Towntex
I have been offered several „vintage“ Dormeuil Towntex fabrics. Are they any good? Would you consider them anywhere near „good old vintage quality“...?

Re: T vs. /|\ shaped sleeves
Very interesting, this thread, I just came across it by chance (couldn't figure out a bit by its title). I am very slim, skinny and slender, my shirtmaker started out with massive /|\ which just looked very wrong with all the creases and extra fabric at the lower sides of my chest - now almost arriv...

Re: The Best Steam Iron
Watch this video for ironing techniques. If there's better, please let me know --http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK6iQj-I_0w Ah, Mr Francomb - sure I know that one! :) Nothing wrong with that. I just prefer a steam generator to his steam iron plus sprayer, and take quite a bit more time for the sake...

Re: The Best Steam Iron
Pray Bertel, tell us where you purchased that iron from, and at what cost? Lelit are located in Italy. They sell the PG027 direct through their online shop for EUR 510 plus p&p. Their German reseller/distributor offered it for EUR 659 (!!) including p&p, then after my aghast question if they were s...

Re: Shrinking woollen fabric prior to cutting
Many thanks Michael!
Well, I should have known anyway - just another parameter or step in the process that I should bespeak with my shirtmaker (if he does it, which I assume now since he is a traditionalist, and how)
Thank you,
Robert

Re: Shrinking woollen fabric prior to cutting
Dear Henry, This is interesting. You say you "shrink everything". Just as a side note (since the thread explicitely talks about woolen fabrics): would you recommend to also follow this process for shirting fabrics, so cotton, or linen, before giving those to the shirtmaker? Thank you, Robert K. (ano...

Re: The Best Steam Iron
Thank you for your interest cathach - I'll try my best: My new Lelit PG027 steam generator got delivered today. Here's how my new Italian toy looks like - a bit cold and arrogant I might say: http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/552/lelit1.jpg http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/9102/lelit2.jpg I had to ...

Re: The Best Steam Iron
Cathach, this discussion comes just at the right time for my first post as a new member, as well as to share my two cents of experience: After too many years of anger and frustration with 'regular' steam irons of various makes and models, I earlier this year decided to jump up a notch and give Tefal...
