What do you think about bespoke shoes? what is the difference in quality and style? Cleverley's bespoke shoes are simply stunning. They offer three distinct advantages over even very high quality RTW shoes. First, the fit is unsurpassed for obvious reasons. Second, the style of the shoes is remarka...

Would you mind elaborating on your poor experience with Edward Green bespoke? I have heard nothing but praise for Tony Gaziano's work and was looking forward to the day when I would commission from him. I too have heard nothing but praise for Tony Gaziano's work, and I was very surprised at the dif...

Other than Cleverley, has anyone had any particularly good bespoke shoemaking experiences in London that they could share? I have worked with both Green and Cleverley. The Cleverley shoes look better, fit better, have worn better and are far more durable. Quite simply, the Cleverley shoes I have ar...

Church's decline
I understand that members have typically experienced a decline in the quality of Church's shoes. As I have size 14 feet (and hence limited options outside of bespoke) and the C&J shoes do not fit me well, I am inclined to look at the Church's again. In what manner has their quality declined?

I now regret having bought as many black shoes as I have. I actually feel I could make it just fine through the rest of my life with no more than one or two pairs of black shoes... I fear I now feel the same way. I have put off buying the two basic pairs you mention in favor of shoes that I imagine...

Thank you, RWS, for the advice and the welcome. Brown tweed sounds just the ticket. At this point, I am relatively unfamiliar with the cloth. Is there a particular weight I should look for, and are there any particular patters that are more suitable for an overcoat? I hadn't even considered a raglan...

Brown shoes vs. black shoes
I'm getting used to the idea of dark brown shoes worn with a suit, but what of the reverse situation, a black shoe with a less formal outfit? When not wearing a suit, are there times when black shoes are inappropriate? For example, I read somewhere (possibly here) that it is advisable to avoid weari...

As a new registrant, I am very excited both to be posting my first questions and at the prospect of receiving advice from the forum’s esteemed membership. I am in the midst of transition on two fronts. First, I am moving from medicine to the business world and my wardrobe will be moving right along ...

My questions are, where do I purchase one (UK) and are there any issues with selecting said item. I know Taylors of Old Bond St has a selection of Dovo straight razors, which have an excellent reputation. I just bought my very first straight razor, a Thiers-Issard, and have had a few ginger goes wi...
