Re: Singapore Sling?
Thanks very much for your advice. It seems like a great opportunity try something a little different. Nearly everything I have is weighty, fully lined and made in London, so I think a coat in a lighter cloth, half lined etc. might be a fun commission. Personally I do prefer some drape but I’ll see w...

Re: Singapore Sling?
I feared as much. However, gastronomic recommendations would be equally welcome. Anything interesting, local or traditional would be excellent.
Thanks,

Singapore Sling?
My office is on Jermyn Street so I’m aware that this may sound like utter lunacy but variety is the spice of life so with a slightly anxious tone I’m going to ask - does anyone know any tailors or shirt makers etc. worth visiting in Singapore? Work means I will be there fairly often and I just thoug...

Marks, A great post. I'm thrilled to see an example of the true modern English suit. I belive this is the future of Saville Row, not tourist friendly pastiche... As a Kilgour customer, I would encourage a visit to the talent slightly nearer Picadilly Circus, but hope to discuss with you further. Viv...

Thank you all very much for some interesting and insightful thoughts. I think I’m going to take the plunge and go bespoke. With Cleverley? I’m not sure yet but I am certainly looking forward to researching the project and getting the commission under way. Other than Cleverley, has anyone had any par...

Whilst I take your point and certainly agree that you should judge each item on its own merit, Dunhill do not market themselves as a maker of anything specific: they sell luxury goods. Cleverley do, they are shoemakers and go to some lengths to tell you how authentic, historic etc. they are. I suppo...

To confuse matters... I have just been to Kilgour in my lunch break (to pick up some chocolate brown cords in a 90% cotton, 10% cashmere mix; very nice but a different story...) and they have exactly the same shoes as I have, on display, stamped Kilgour inside! I asked if they were made by C&J and t...

For what its worth, when I was in the shop the (admittedly very helpful) assistants told me the shoes where unique in terms of style and quality, (in fact, they were rather dismissive of a pair of Tricker’s I was wearing at the time) and certainly gave me the impression that they were Cleverley made...

Gentlemen, I have read with considerable interest many fascinating threads over the last couple of months; I have particularly enjoyed the advice and views on the crafting of a bespoke suit, invaluable advice for someone who is in the process of researching their first commission (having spent the l...
