The graduated lace holes seem to accentuate the width of the shoe,while the galosh brogue line accentuates the length of the shoe.
Did you get the desired result from the combination?

The benefit of a wood pegged shoe is a narrower waist than what can be achieved with a sewn welt. A wood pegged sole would be more rigid than a welt sewn shoe,but re-construction might be more difficult with fewer cobblers familiar with the construction.
