Re: Mohair.

Hectorm,
Why do you think Drakes are having a sale of Grenadine ties- I cannot find reference to it on their site and the Grenadine pricing seems unchanged to me

Re: Where to buy a hat

Dear all, Thank you for your advice. I would have liked to see the colours and styles of hat up close but energy levels did not permit. So I worked from the websites and bought a navy fedora from Lock& co. I get loads of positive comments as I wear it whenever I go out- not that I am able to do this...

Re: Double Breasted Commission

Guys I have held back commenting on this post as I think it is a very relevant and, possibly, controversial subject- my wife dislikes them for instance. I can well see why people are nervous of DB because of the bulk effect- indeed I think Prince Charles wears them for exactly that reason as he is a...

Where to buy a hat

Dear all, I am having chemotherapy treatment at the moment and my hair has started to fall out. I live in Oxford UK, but am currently unable to travel due to very low energy levels. I have always had a very good head of hair so have not needed a hat before. I want to buy a hat that will see me throu...

Re: First foray into tailored clothing

I am increasingly having braces on all my suits. They are supremely comfortable and one can stand up and they hang perfectly without any adjustment. Braced trousers always hang better and their stuffy image is definitely a backward move in the style stakes.

Re: grey herringbone suits

I think a plain navy suit can look very smart. However I generally prefer my suits to have some visual interest. A worsted small herringbone 3 piece will look highly professional in a mid grey. As Alden says some of the larger more rustic designs might be acceptable in your field but no one can comp...

Re: Seeking advice on weight and color number for Lesser Sui

Michael , the most interesting point coming out of the mill execs discussion is that LL fabrics are clearly beginning to make an impact on the market. We work hard to generate sufficient interest for 60m and yet distributors are beginning to notice even though this is a relatively small volume.

Re: Cifonelli RTW and MTM

Steeds website clearly displays his prices for LL cloths. The prices quoted on this thread are VAT exempt ie applicable to customers outside the EU.

Re: I wonder about SR quality

This sounds very poor. If you like the Huntsman cut then I suggest you try Richard Anderson. I have always found his service exemplary but living in the UK I am able to visit London reasonably often

Re: What to look for in a trousering?*

Guys, I envy you your slim waists. I agree that having wider hips than waist will mean side adjusters or DAKS will be sufficient on well cut trousers. Having said that braced trousers do hang better and never need adjusting during the day. I know a no of slim guys who wear braced trousers and the ef...

Re: Trousers in NY

Dear Igcintra, Look by all means and I hope you are successful. My own experience however, is that the cloth used in bespoke and mtm ( depending where it is bought) is so much superior to any RTW options available that when put next to each other the quality difference stands out. One only has to lo...

Re: Tweed Odd Jacket Cloth & Details

Prince Michael is normally very well dressed. I agree with Frank that his jacket is ill fitting with far too much drape and would value a professional view. However I suspect he has either lost weight since the Jacket was made or he has just got out of the car and not adjusted it correctly

Re: The one-button look

I really like the 1 button, partly because they are very uncommon RTW. I believe they are much harder to cut and balance than other cuts, although the tailors are better qualified than me to comment on this. I am a customer of Richard Anderson, however, and it is his house style dating back to his H...

Re: Dating - Wine - Lady

Unfortunately this is such an open ended question that it is almost impossible to answer. My starting point with wine is the food flavours I will be eating. There are classic matches here eg smoked salmon and Chablis( French), Malbec and steak as has already been suggested, chicken and white burgund...
