Re: Trousers

I have also seen a lot of mediocre trousers from otherwise excellent Italian tailors. This is maybe partly because a lot of Italian tailors outsource the trousers and concentrate on the jackets. Have you considered trying a trouser tailor in Napoli? I’m using Marco Cerrato for all my trousers (and ...

Re: Advice wanted: re-building a wardrobe

To each his own I say. Like aston I've had good experiences from GB and they have made me many suits, overcoats, tweed jackets and even a dinner suit over the years. Photos of some of At any rate, despite Frans' experiences I've had something like 13 trousers made by GB and they have all come out m...

Re: Advice wanted: re-building a wardrobe

https://www.permanentstyle.com/2011/07/different-ways-to-pad-the-chest-of-a-suit.html Admittedly, some of his tailors do half of the chest by hand, others do it only on machine. Still, I'd say it's a far cry from full bespoke. But of course bespoke is not a protected trade mark, so anyone is free to...

Re: Advice wanted: re-building a wardrobe

I believe it says so in one of Crompton's early reviews, and seriously, for 1000 pound I doubt that there can be much time consuming handwork. My Danish tailor says it takes him around 40 hours to do just a jacket, so when one does the math (considering costs of cloth, canvas, thread, rent etc. etc....

Re: Advice wanted: re-building a wardrobe

Frans, indeed, the English version of the article can be found here https://sartorialnotes.com/2013/04/14/graham-browne-what-you-pay-is-what-you-get/ I just chose the Danish version because it had more photos to document what I believe is a sloppily made garment. And you’re definitely right about Cr...

Re: Advice wanted: re-building a wardrobe

Regarding Browne I have to say I have my reservations after seing some downright awful products from them, for instance this suit (unfortunately the post is in Danish but the photos speak for themselves): https://denvelklaedtemand.dk/?s=Graham+browne However, I have also seen photos of nice products...

If we do another run of LL mohair again
Having a gorgeous DB made up from the navy blue mohair, I for one would be very interested in doing more runs in pretty much any colour - navy and grey included 8)

Re: Custom belts

Depending on the style you're after, but Tanner Bates might be worth looking into. I have a messenger bag from them made from a beautiful, vegetable tanned vintage hide and crafted to the highest standards (at least to my eye). And they are very pleasant to deal with as well :)

Best,

Re: Bespoke peacoat in the works

PS: The only thing I'm still not too pleased about is the buttons. I think I would prefer some more rustic buttons (my tailor chose these for me), though I would definitely still prefer horn buttons. But who knows, they might grow on me and will probably save the decision for when I bring it in for ...

Re: Bespoke peacoat in the works

Gentlemen, thank you so much for your very kind words! Indeed I think it actually hits a sweet spot between formal and informal. I have used it with a suit and tie underneath (admittedly the coat is a bit too casual for that, but I still like to think I looked better than my colleague who wore a win...

Re: Bespoke peacoat in the works

On the last day of the year I realised that I still hadn't delivered on my promise to show some fit pics of my peacoat (or whatever it is). Unfortunately the light was really bad, but I nevertheless hope it will give you an idea about how it looks. It might need some further adjustments but I still ...

Re: Bespoke peacoat in the works

Standing in the elevator today I realized that I still haven't had the photos taken that I promised. In the mean time I hope you can make do with this very bad iPhone shot. I promise proper photos will come!
