Re: Boy's Formal Wear
Anybody seen Finding Neverland? About JM Barrie, it's typically enjoyable costume wise, but of particular note are the dinner clothes of the young children. They wear smart clothes, often close to formal attire but with romantic and dandyish touches that a responsible adult would rarely indulge. For...

Re: What Are Women Good For?
I believe that the majority of women and girls, while perhaps good at dressing themselves, lack the eye for detail that defines well dressed men. Don't believe me? See if you can name more types of shirt cuff than your female friend who insists she is wise to the world of men's fashion. Furthermore,...

Re: In search of a boutonnière
Depending on how much you wish to spend, you might do well to check out Lanvin. They have a few RTW boutonnieres online (Mr Porter?) and I believe their Savile Row branch stocks an array of them.

Adjustments!
I bought some Linen trousers recently from an online retailer, and despite their awkward detailing (Jeans-style pockets for one thing), I have decided that they are an adjustment or two away from being my favourite casual trousers for next summer. That's a little enjoyable tale for you. My question ...

Re: Tartan trousers with a dinner jacket -somebody stop me !
I say you should go for it. Black tie shoudln't always be a competition of proper uniformity. Just don't do it every time and then the times that you do do it, it will looks spontaneous at the least. Just because creative black-tie has gone a little too far in recent times, it does not mean there is...

Re: My Mark Powell Dinner Suit
After some disappointing photos at the event I wore it to, I am trying to find an excuse to climb into the suit again. Mr. Powell happily obliged my requests as previously stated and so now, I can ornament my lapel with an exotic flower too. I am very excited about wearing the jacket again. I will l...

I was on a similar hunt a while back. Dolce and Gabbana certainly make them RTW. I think there were a few others too but I can't remember

Re: Double vs. Single Breasted
Surely there is an irony in here, in that the only people who will label it an affectation are those that have the interest or else wherewithal to notice such a stylish garment. I think it's easily forgotten how few men take the time to recognize and judge these things.

The White Bow-Tie
Hello all, I posted this in another thread thinking it didn't deserve it's own but having remained unresolved I thought I'd put it here after all. Hopefully you all have opinions on the issue or else can direct me somewhere where they might. The subject: The white bow tie in white-tie attire. The so...

Re: ACTUALLY why are white bow ties inappropriate for black
I apologise as this is extremely tangential but it didn't really deserve its own thread. Hopefully you all have opinions on the issue or else can direct me somewhere where they might. The subject: The white bow tie in white-tie attire. The source of interest: Titanic (1997) So I'm aware that movies ...

Re: San Francisco
thanks for all the help. Not too long after I got here, I discovered that the place (perhaps the country) has forgotten that men may have chests as small as 36 inches. I'm sure I'll spark outrage by saying this, but tailoring here seems terrible. From what I've seen, there is a total infatuation wit...

Women's fashion
Hi all, I've learnt alot about men's fashion or business and formal wear from this forum, a few others and the glorious black tie guide, and while I know women's fashion can be a little more of a free for all, I was wondering if anybody knew of similar sites based on women's fashion and clothing eti...

Re: My Mark Powell Dinner Suit
Thanks. I currently have such a link closure as you described but I would prefer essentially two button holes so that I can wear the jacket open without it looking odd and so that I can (in my wealthy future) close it with a metal link of some sort, or else just different faced buttons. I will consi...
