I guess it is the mirror weird!

Here is a recently made up Johnstons saxony. The colour doesn't come out too well (the flash close-up is the nearest to reality) and it is difficult to adopt a natural posture whilst photographing oneself in a mirror but you get the idea. The collars are plain fabric.
Pique (marcella) collars could be made but the fabric is thicker and thus less suitable. I think it is better to have the contrast between the pique front and the plain collar. It also provides a neutral background for the tie fabric.
