Re: Cocktails
I don’t want the responsibility of planning I was the one who had to make the suggestion! I’m away on the last weekend of January and first weekend of feb but free apart from that! I will give opinions on locations however.

Re: Cocktails
Perhaps starting at the Beaufort Bar, as DavidS had suggested? I hope the Beaufort is the one for the wives. I couldn't find the chronicles of which one was which. You tell me later. Alexandra: if the gentlemen are buying (as I presume), be sure to order the Old Fashioned. Since I fit nei...

Re: Cocktails
Have we got any further planning these cocktails? I am getting rather bored with everyone I know seemingly being on holiday at once. I suppose that is August. Regarding egg froth: I concur, dry shake with the other ingredients (acidity helps like cream of tartare in a meringue) then add the ice for ...

20-25 years ago, the bar at the Savoy was full of hookers..... .....I agree with you that many of the most interesting and quality joints are ‘out East’, with the West End often charging prices that bear no relation with the quality of the drink. Actually there were 2 bars at the Savoy. The Beaufor...

Re: Rooms
I recently had some delicious foraged mushrooms with an excellent orange wine (A Qvevri white- long skin contact on a white grape) from the new world. The label was awful but the wine required me to delay my excursion to the cocktail bar I was supposed to be going to next door and was very reasonabl...

Re: Cocktails
I love the look of China Tang (and the drinks… and the handy location…) but sometimes the clientele can be a bit ‘oligarch-wth-professional-escorts’ Never been to 69 colebrooke row, but have heard about it. Ahah you may have captured the exact thing I was trying to describe more delicately!...

Re: You cannot make a revolution with silk gloves.
From reading this I feel like you could have the most fun with a blazer. As to your length issue regarding the robe/gown it largely depends on your height and the length of your sleeve (and, with a robe, how voluminous a cut you were imagining) If you do need help sourcing silk, I have several Frenc...

Ah it's been a while since I've had time to peruse the lounge. I have recently had the novelty of actual opportunities to explore the cocktail bars of london with friends since parting ways with my ex, which has been interesting (although I still find it irritating that the best bar I've found for a...
