Re: An Oldtailorways DB by Old Henry

Mariano,

Beautiful, simply beautiful. I think the official expanded name for FU 2.0 should be FU twice

Re: An Oldtailorways DB by Old Henry

Mariano, beautiful suit. Just look at the neck and shoulders in the sitting down shot. There is not a millimeter of a gap. It's like Frank is crouching behind with his finger on your neck. And you are leaning forward a bit. Still no movement. Perhaps someone at Fedex appreciates Frank's work a bit t...

Re: An Oldtailorways DB by Old Henry

Truly beautiful DB. I would much rather have it on my shoulders than on my fridge :). Beefy high collar that works with those lapels. Perfect button placement. I only wish we could see it on the lucky owner and see the back as well. No better way to celebrate reopening of LL than with this great wor...

Re: Frank Shattuck coat

The coat is not cheap, it has to earn its keep :)
Now with a heavy cashmere turtle neck and a cap made by the same hands as the coat. Who else can make you a coat and cap?

Re: Frank Shattuck coat

Yes, where the sleeves are attached on this coat is most unusual. The back wraps around me and follows much further than on most of my other coats. Then the sleeve begins. The sleeves are attached where my arms are attached :). That's what I meant by "Back made for me and only for me". There is no w...

Re: Frank Shattuck coat

Gentlemen,

Thank you for you good words. Before the coat was made I thought it's a shame frank is a 5 hour drive away from me. Now I think I am lucky he is only 5 hour drive away from me :D

Frank Shattuck coat

Gentlemen, Over the last couple of months I've been working with our OldHenry on what we decided to call a walking coat. A super comfortable jacket that's a bit longer than usual with beefy rustic pocket flaps (including breast pocket). The idea was to make it roomy enough to be worn with a substant...

Re: First bespoke suit: Firenze via Ōsaka

Dear Bird, Don't get discouraged. My first experience was with a NYC "bespoke" British "maker". I didn't know then what was what. He charged me an arm and a leg. I was disappointed and couldn't even tell what exactly was wrong with the coat other than that it was way too long. Certainly didn't help ...

Re: First bespoke suit: Firenze via Ōsaka

Frank can do a super solid suit by skype. We can still run there.

Re: First bespoke suit: Firenze via Ōsaka

Dear Bird, I've never had an experience where I didn't pay for a commission. In this case I would ask for my money back. I am very sorry to say this as I am sure it is a disappointing experience for you. It looks like the suit is made for someone else. Not a matter of details like button stance or s...

Re: Shirt Collar Question, The Inverted Vee

This for sure. The interesting thing is that this shirt does not have a large tie space. Maybe a 1/4 at the most. Italians cut their collar band in the way that forces a curve on the leaf. The leaf is "not flat" as you can see in the picture above. Effectively they give the the tie it's space under ...

Re: Shirt Collar Question, The Inverted Vee

Belimad,

Not sure anyone has ever seen a perfect V :). But in terms of not being able to see the shirt collar band, if you google Antonio Liverano I think you will see a good example. His tie knot is full, well proportioned and always covers the collar band well.

Re: Edward Green Shoes

Veldtschoen is an interesting form of construction. It's similar to what Italians call Norvegese. Because the upper is turned outward it does provide a barrier against water entering the shoe. However, both methods of construction compromise the fundamental purpose of welted construction. That is, t...

Re: Shirt Collar Question, The Inverted Vee

Rodes, Let's leave TV personalities alone for a moment. Who knows how they glue, nail or otherwise permanently attach ties to shirts. Shirt collar and tie construction have a lot to do with keeping the two together. For a tie. If you think of a knot as approximating a cone, this cone has to have goo...

Re: Ultimate NY Winter Overcoat?

This summer we were shopping at Loden-Plankl in Vienna and one jacket struck me with the beauty of it's cloth. It was 1000grm and made in a barleycorn like pattern. I don't think one could "break it in" but more likely adjust his body shape to fit in inside :) I was curious (was kind of thinking mig...
