Re: Timothy Everest is U.N.C.L.E.'s new tailor

Having now seen The Man From UNCLE on the big screen, I was rather taken by Napoleon Solo ( Henry Cavill)'s gorgeous wardrobe- particularly the glen check suit- and the overall look of the film. The cinematography, locations, soundtrack and costumes were reminiscent of a more stylish time. I was daz...

Oh, I'd forgotten that. Didn't he also make suits for the Mission Impossible movies?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the film or the tailor? I'm intrigued but will be interested to hear the thoughts of those more knowledgable than I.

Blades of Savile Row

I believe that the firm was sold in the 1980's. Does anyone know to whom? I imagine they're not still trading. Did anyone "inherit" their client list?

Re: Bespoke Shoes

In the end I didn't get bespoke shoes from a local shoemaker. Communication was very difficult. I did give what I consider to be quite generous amounts of time for replies/ information Dear Alex, I understand you getting "bad vibes", but maybe you should take advantage of his being a local shoemake...

Re: Perfumes

Very nice, fresh and extremely long lasting - Molinard II for men. The only place ive seen this for sale in the UK is Fortum and Masons of Piccadilly. I was shaved with a cut throat razor while visiting London and the barber stocked the entire Molinard range. I can't remember off hand but might hav...

Re: grey herringbone suits

I see that the original post was in August of last year. Would it be rude to inquire as to just how long it took for the suit to be completed? Forgive me. I'm not on here often, I didn't notice your reply. The suit did not take all that time to complete..I got a job away shortly after the August po...

should I be worried?

I've used a couple of local tailors previously, and contacted another following a recommendation from an old friend. I enquired about a grey nailhead worsted two-piece, to have the tailor ( and it was the tailor I spoke to) tell me that he'd never heard of nailhead worsted, did I mean pinhead? I rea...

Re: grey herringbone suits

I'm now in possession of a grey herringbone three piece ( as well as a couple of other suits). I'm attempting to write a clear history of the fascinating, addictive and occasionally frustrating tailoring process, which I'll post here shortly. I would like to thank the board members who supported the...

If I'm ever fortunate enough to own such a beautiful item of clothing I shall be blissfully happy. Thank you for showing us that.
