Can't find some old blog posts, videos by Alden

Dear Alden, I can't find older posts on your blog: http://dresswithstyle.com/ I go to the bottom of the page:   Page 1 of 5  1  2  3  4  5 » , none of the links to any of the older pages seem to work. Speaking of videos, this one: https://vimeo.com/8076027, as the name implies, Men’s style: tell a s...

Re: An interview with Bernhard Roetzel

Apparently, there's a 2016 update to Bernhard Roetzel's classic (classic?) book, Gentleman: https://www.amazon.com/Gentleman-Ultima ... 3848008165

But how is it different? Has any of you pulled the trigger on it?

Re: "True Style..."

Gentlemen, Have ordered my copy. I don't know if it was The Rake which published a nice portfolio of a few of GBB's outfits. Maybe this one? https://www.permanentstyle.com/2015/01/how-to-dress-like-bruce-boyer.html Once in a while, I like to disagree a little. I understand the wish for illustrations...

How to Sew on a Button

I tried to search for this term, nothing found. Not sure if LL is the right forum to ask about how to repair your clothes, at least how to sew a few buttons, but why not? Sure, I can Google for it and it gives hundreds of results, but here is where it gets confusing! The Art of Manliness (nice site ...

Re: Stylish slim wallets

I highly recommend Peter Nitz in Switzerland. Just got a blue alligator credit card holder that was exquisite. Might be not in beginner's price range. I mean, it must be nice, but the whole style thing is a process. Why spend a fortune in the beginning, if you can simply get bored of expensive item...

Re: Stylish slim wallets

http://www.kloegcom.nl/bibliotheek/Apple/iPhone/iPhone_5/Mujjo/Mujjo_Slim-fit_iPhone-5-5S_Wallet_Sleeve_Insteek-Hoesje.jpg Thanks; finally solved. I though; why separate the wallet from the phone pouch? It is much more minimalist if they are one and the same. Above: Dutch brand Mujjo. I like the st...

Re: An interview with Bernhard Roetzel

By the way, thank you for recommending this book - finally. This is definitely more helpful than the old drawings I was referred to previously, and the notion that 'just have inner style' - which implies that I am supposed to invent 100s of years of classic menswear from scratch - I mean, this is al...

Re: An interview with Bernhard Roetzel

Interesting, back and forth. To translate it all - to myself - to plain English: it all boils down to what do we know about the human mind and the brain so far (as in 2015). Incredible new discoveries and insights just in the last 10 years alone. The question is, who is up to date with all that? Eve...

Re: Stylish slim wallets

Level 2: How about a stylish slim wallet and a matching accompanying (or at least not contrasting) smartphone pouch? A pouch is basically the style where you take out the phone for use: http://www.htcdepot.com/images/product_images/accessories/additional_images/7265/large/1.jpg As there are nowadays...

Re: Article by Alden: The first serious step in bespoke

Bump. Okay. Someone some place around here forums mentioned when looking for a tailor or shirt maker instead of look on the Internet just walk the streets of X city. I was thinking of it and may I conclude it is wrong? I know a few things of marketing (not much) but let's say I am a shirtmaker in ci...

Black Lapel - Just the looks - Your opinion?

Sure, they are affordable MTM or something I guess not suitable for all members here (might be interesting for a beginner, though) There were posted here some drawings from around the 1920s but let's get real: it's a little more difficult to get one's style from old drawings than from actual crisp p...

Re: Linen instead of cotton as basic shirting

I went dog sledding in Lapland this February and challenged myself to not buy technical crap from shops. I brought my 5 LL linen shirts and only one heavy wool Brittany sweater which belonged to my grandpa and a snowboard jacket. I never felt once cold wearing the shirts, and even dropped the sweat...
