Re: Hand-stitching on shirts

Beautiful shirt.
Does your left shoulder have more slope?
Seems to be some extra folds there that might be due to the extra slope.
Might just be the way you are standing.

mytailor will make soft collar and cuffs if you specifically ask them to. The problem with mytailor is that if you deal with a salesman rather than with joe Hemrajani himself, the results are often hit and miss. If you email Joe and tell him you are unhappy with the construction of the collar and cu...

Do either of you gentlemen know whether the coats were made to the same standard? M I had a tan single breasted raglan sleeve "made in Canada" Aquascutum raincoat several years ago. It was of very good quality and lasted a long time. I can't imagine Aquascutum varying their standards, but it's poss...

The Canadian operation closed in 1995, so
the garment you saw had to be older than that.

To be fair, anyone who lives in New York, LA or a few other cities
will be measured by Joe Hemrajani himself. He is very
personable and very helpful. Too bad his salesmen aren't up to
his standard.. I guess Joe gets what HE pays for :D

I have had several shirts made by mytailor.com (Hemrajani Bros) They are entirely satisfactory in terms of constuction and fit. They tour almost every major city in the US. They will measure you and you can see and touch fabric swatches. Self measurement and choosing fabric from a website picture is...

Unless you have unique physical requirements where only bespoke will do,
you might want to seek out a haberdashery that carries Oxxford.

Oxxford MTM trousers rival or exceed most bespoke in terms of construction.

Some bespoke tailors particularly in Italy do not put laplel button holes
on jackets unless the client specifically asks for them. One
explanation given is that without the button hole, the shape/width
of the lapel can be altered as styles change.

A true bespoke shirt involves the creation of a sample/trial (perhaps muslin)
shirt and as many fitted try-ons as necessary to get the fit
right.

Without the try-ons, the shirt is MTM or custom.
