Re: Good shirtmaker in UK

Well, I must be the luckiest fellow - Budd rtw fits me absolutely perfect but for a quarter inch adjustment on the right sleeve. Mr. Rowley and Mr. Butcher agree hat I have perfect Budd body shape. "We cut for men not boys" says Rowley. Although my doctor suggests a loose a stone, I prefer Budd's ad...

Re: Great sporting Moments

More great stuff!! The Gourmet Dinner is Feb 21st. I'm flying over as they are breaking out some of the really good port. I'm sure Ron will be in attendance. Hope the weather permits a cigar smoking perambulation around the square. Damned shame we can't smoke in the "Smoking Room". Cheers, st.t.

Cheers, st.t.

Budd is not part of the sale. It will remain with the former Huntsman owners. Let us hope this is good news. Budd is an absolute gem!

Re: Good shirtmaker in UK

Well, I suppose I am fortunate in that a Budd 17.5 rtw fits me almost perfectly. Mr. Butcher says that his only change would be 1/8 inch on the right sleeve. Of course I'm limited to what Budd has in stock but I do make my requests and they eventually arrive. The real problem that I have is laundry....

Which movies get you in the mood to .....

.... go visit London? NJS recently wrote about James Bond which sent me on a Connery Bond marathon session this weekend and now all I want to do is head to London and unleash a bit of that inner - Bond that we all have in us. (Don't deny that you think just a little about Bond when you get fitted at...

I bought mine from Budd. Go and have chat with the ever amusing and sartorially wise Mr. Rowley and let him guide you through the peccary experience. Cheers, st.tully

Frank Foster Shirtsmaker

Is anyone here currently patronizing Frank Foster for shirts? I bought an old one on ebay and really like the collar. I have read about him in the web and he was the shirtmaker for Connery and Moore back in their Bond days. He is still in business but must be fairly advanced in age. Here is his very...

Re: If you could have only one Tweed suit ....

St. tully, you are receiving good advice in this thread. I would just add that if you are in the process of choosing your one and only tweed, you might want to browse the book, edited by Johnstons of Elgin, Scottish Estate Tweeds . It´s mainly pictures of tweeds with short notes about them. Besides...

Re: If you could have only one Tweed suit ....

I certainly want to visit W.Bill. I have read that a tailor must accompany you there. Can the tailor just call and give you an introduction? I can imgine that I might like to spent a bit more time in W.Bill's basement than an A&S employee.

If you could have only one Tweed suit ....

I'm headed to London next month and have a few sartorial endeavours under consideration. One of which is a tweed suit. I live in the southern United States, so tweed is not really a staple of my wardrobe - but I'd like to have one heavy tweed suit. The quandary is which tweed. Let me start of by eli...

Pattern matching a bold stripe

At Anderson and Sheppard's "Notebook" blog, is posted a picture of a bold stripe double breasted suit - the matching of the stripes around the collar is way off. To my eye, if the stripes are very bold - then they need to be matched. Am I just being too obsessed? http://www.anderson-sheppard.co.uk/t...
