Just think of how many Italian intellectuals (less gifted than Malaparte, of course) played a starring role in the hilarious fin-de-siècle movie "From Marx to Berlusconi" ! Caro Filangieri Your reference to Groucho would have pleased him greatly! Our most recent President of Italy, Mr. Napoletano, ...

Sorry I was unclear. I meant that some HK makers charge prices comparable to Poland, which makes for probably an extra 25% margin, based on a comparison of IT labor costs (the only one in which I am conversant). As for the joys of local supply over here... yeah, it's pretty good, but only as far as ...

Thanks for the tip Chris. I ended up finding a great salesman to measure me for MTM shirts at H. Stockton at Lenox Square. His name is Ashton Greene. I'm quite happy with these. They run about $130 - $150. If you use the Mason fabrics they run $300+ though. Now this blows me away. In Poland, there ...

You would spell that phoneme as ch in Italian, yet if you were to spell the brand as Chiton , you would no doubt confuse Anglo-Saxon clients. Incidentally, a Kiton maker should make shirts, not jackets, the proper Greek word for which is Himation . [Cfr. Matthew 5:40, famous passage about being sued...

It didn't fit you well? How is that any reflection of the brand? It's a RTW jacket, what do you expect? They use a standard set of measurements. Just because they don't fit your body as well as other RTW patterns do, there is no reason to fault the brand and say you don't see what the big deal is -...

As an Italian, I have ready access (for instance in many of Milan's better shops) to all the hallowed brands (Brioni, Kiton, Borrelli, Isaia). The only one I have some degree of love for is Isaia, whose Enrico shape is a tapered silhouette that seems to fit me well. Whenever I try on a Kiton or a Br...

I used to live, and still own an apartment, in Via della Scala at number 25, which is right opposite the flagship store. Needless to say, I could but their lavender cologne, which I love, anytime. And, needless to say, I'd have to buy for friends and relations all the time. Now that I live abroad, m...
