The views of the track were fine, the views of the other guests are becoming increasingly unpleasant.

It has never been traditional for a man in the UK to wear a wedding ring. The CoE marriage rites only changed to add the giving of rings (plural) in the 1960s/70s to make it standard. The uptake of two rings started some time after 1930 in the US and spread to the UK after that. I don't wear one, ne...

A chap shouldn't have a wedding ring at all - although this flies in the face of convention in the US and parts of Europe.

If one is interesting in making sauces, I found Sonia Stevenson's book - the Magic of Saucery - jolly helpful - she was the first woman in the UK to receive a Michelin star. You can find it on amazon but I suspect that it might now be out of print.

Things to do in Brussels: 1. Dine at Comme Chez Soi - although I would recommend avoiding the politicians that frequent the place. 2. Visit the Horta museum - if you're a fan of Art Nouveau architecture, it should please. 3. Have a peek inside the Museum of Fine Arts - well it's two museums really, ...

A few words of caution, upon visiting the US I discoverd a gin named Bombay - it's entirely unrelated to Bombay Sapphire but if one asks for a Bombay and tonic disappointment is entirely likely.

Ahh, easy question this one:

Floris - No. 89
Czech and Speake - Neroli

Dior's Eau Sauvage whilst not of the same quality isn't a bad number.

My brush comes from Taylor of Old Bond Street whereas my father's comes from Trumpers. They seem of equal quality. I can add that I find it best to hand my brush upside down to dry.

What-ho, Other than the more well known museums and galleries I can highly recommend the Wallace Collection on Manchester Square, perhaps fifteen minutes walk from Picadilly: http://www.wallacecollection.org/ One would also think that perhaps dinner at Wiltons on Jermyn Streetwould be de rigeur, pre...

Having recentled lunched and dined at Galvin on Baker Street lately I can recommend the food highly but the service was utterly unattentive on both occasions. For similar food but with a far better dining experience I would recommend Bellamy's in Bruton Place.

You could also take a short walk to Debonair in Royal Opera Arcade - they invariable carry squares at practically 1980s pricing.

Pol

I'm entirely behind Ernest on this one, Pol Roger - I opened a bottle of Pol '93 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill on the recent birth of my daughter, fabulous!

I have a couple of bottles of ordinary vintage Pol '95 which I'm saving for TVD's return to London!
