Front jacket darts
I have three suits from three different tailors (one from Kilgour, the other two from off Row) and they all have extended front darts on the coat. By this I mean that the normal dart goes below the pocket to the bottom. I have just been watching Get Carter on TV and noticed that Michael Caine's icon...

Re: reasonably priced soft tailored suit
Dear All Thank you for your varied replies. I had forgotten about Steed (sorry!) and they seem like a good option. The reason why I was interested in a little tailor in the Sth of France or Italy is that I am fortunate enough to have to work once a month in Monaco - hence the option of being able to...

reasonably priced soft tailored suit
I know that my question has probably been asked on this forum countless times, but I never seem to find the right post! Where can I find a someone who will make up a "soft tailored suit" in the Anderson and Sheppard style? I love the look but my problem is that I really can't bring myself to justify...

Re: bi-colour silk knit tie
Thank you all for the ideas. I looked at the hanger project but even though the ties are lovely, I found the prices a bit restrictive as well as having to have them shipped to Europe. I know of Sam Hober and I will sometime order a grenadine tie but I really wanted a knit tie - the idea being smart ...

Re: Two suits from an 'off the row' London tailor
I would suggest over much thought and not enough observation of what is about - who allowed these two to leave his work room? Clearly if you are happy then so be it but not elegant I'm afraid. Sorry. I really find these sort of comments very unhelpful and a little mean! Its comments like yours that...

Re: bi-colour silk knit tie
Thanks David - but Drakes only seem to do plain, spotty or striped, and I think the same goes for Rubinacci (although I do have a patterened one of theirs!) Plain knitted ties are very easy to find but not 2-tone
Any more ideas?

bi-colour silk knit tie
I have got the urge to buy bi-colour/two tone silk knit ties. I have a lovely one from Drakes (blue/white) and currently I would love a darker blue one. However I see that they have stopped selling them. I then found Kent Wang has some, but I'm not sure that blue/brown or black/white is for me! He d...

Re: Linen suit - "reasonably priced tailor"
I have been meaning to post the details of the linen my wife gave me! It's made by Boussac from their Garden collection and it has a weight of 280g It has a lovely texture! You can look it up on www.pierrefrey.com They also do a rather nice grey flannel - is 440g too heavy? As you can imagine this i...

Re: Linen suit - "reasonably priced tailor"
Hi Cathach I would be really interested in that list of Irish tailors. I'm not actually in Dublin, I'm in Waterford but travel is a bit easier nowdays! I only know of 2 real bespoke tailors - David Young in Galway (who seems to have a good reputation) and another (can't remember his name) who specia...

Re: Linen suit - "reasonably priced tailor"
Has anyone got any thoughts, feedback etc on the new Anthony Sinclair in Savile Row. The Conduit Cut is certainly a look I like!

Re: Linen suit - "reasonably priced tailor"
Thank you for the replies! 1) I had thought of a tailor in Ireland, however they seem to be few and far between! I think they are more into made to measure. I may have found one who sounds promising so I'll let everyone know. The problem is that he is based miles from me and it is probably easier (a...

Linen suit - "reasonably priced tailor"
My wife (who works for a grand French fabric company) has given me a great piece of linen. I would like to get it made up into a suit. However, I don't want to go down the Savile Row route as I really don't think I could afford it (considering I live in Ireland, I'd probably need a bailout to pay fo...

Re: Converting a suit coat into a blazer and vice versa?
This is great -thank you! I looked at the Steed - "Swiss Army Suit" which looks interesting if a little complicated! The button cover idea seems to me the neatest and simplest, so I may do some more googling to find suppliers. Of course what I could do is carry a roll of tin foil - do you think that...

Converting a suit coat into a blazer and vice versa?
This could be an silly request, but I was wondering whether anyone had an idea how I could persuade my tailor that the suit I am getting made (dark blue mohair/wool) could also be transformed into a blazer? The real problem is that I personally hate wearing suit coats as sports jackets! However fina...
