Re: Blog Project - Chris Despos Bespoke Process

Those are the same reasons why we did two basted fittings. The coat balance has been shifting a little each time and it's much easier to fix at this stage.

Thanks for the compliments on The Rake as well.

Re: Blog Project - Chris Despos Bespoke Process

Here is the next update in my experience with Chris:

Nothing really in the way of photos, but I'm very much excited to see the results at the forward fitting in the first week of April.

Re: Blog Project - Chris Despos Bespoke Process

That is how Chris says he does his side tabs usually. Before this suit I had him add some adjusters like this to some ready-made trousers for me and I love them so far. We haven't discussed lining yet, but I figured to the knees. Any suggestions on this front? Talking about it so much I'm really itc...

Re: Blog Project - Chris Despos Bespoke Process

Thank you on all fronts Costi. And yes, I'm completely hooked.

Funny you mention the trouser legs. I actually sent Chris a photo of you in your Eden in Paris Kent-style suit as a model for how I would like to shape the trouser legs. That clean, straight-ish drape just can't be beat in my opinion.

Blog Project - Chris Despos Bespoke Process

Hopefully this won't sound too much like shameless self-promotion, but here goes... I run the blog Simply Refined (http://www.thesimplyrefined.com) and write for a variety of blogs and magazines, and I am currently having my first bespoke suit made. It is with Chris Despos in Chicago, and I am blogg...

Thanks everyone for the patience. Really odd, that. The embed code had just disappeared. It should be all fine and peachy now.

Best,
Stephen

Leonard Logsdail Video

Not trying to toot my own horn here, but I've recently re-launched my website and begun my ICONS video series. I started off with Len Logsdail, and you can find the video here:

Hope everyone enjoys this, and please do share your thoughts.

Re: Paul Stuart Will Have a 2nd Chicago Location

I was in the new shop a few weeks ago, only seven or eight days after it opened. The staff were quite nice and we ended up having a great chat about Italian tailoring. The space isn't huge, but has a pretty good selection of products - especially the Phineas Cole line. If you're looking for ties and...

Cigarette Question

After smoking a cigar in the garden today, I realized even smaller cigars are generally more of a good thing than I want. After the first 15 minutes or so, I find myself enjoying a cigar less and less, and inevitably find myself putting it down before it's properly finished. Reading Mr. Storey's new...

Very nice. Anyone by chance know who makes a quilted flannel jacket like Mr. Grant's?

Re: Cuffed Sleeve on Sports Jacket

In a recent article in The Rake, Dario Carnera, a cutter at Huntsman, recommended the cuffs be the same depth as the jacket's pocket flaps (should it have any). Just another opinion.

Re: Cuffed Sleeve on Sports Jacket

I'm pretty sure that the cloth in that photo is the Dashing Tweeds McDougal Check, but I don't know who cut the suit. From the setting &c. that might be a display piece from The London Cut exhibition a number of years ago, but that's purely guesswork on my part. "Turn-back cuff" is what I typically ...
