Re: Rara - what's this cloth?

Looks like covert cloth/Venetian to me.

Re: Tattersalls in NY

W. Bill have (or had in the last few years) a dozen or more tattersall patterns in 14oz weight.

Re: Dege & Skinner "Phitwell" - Gunclub recommendation neede

Dopey, I love your Phitwell! I actually have a jacket in that same fabric from Ede and Ravenscroft. I'm really sorry to hear these non-positive experiences with Dege and Skinner. I will ask more questions of them at our initial meeting and be clear about my expectations. I am very happy with my Poo...

New Alsport

I am considering having something made from John G. Hardy's new Alsport range. I have had clothes made from some of the old range (both 16oz and 19oz) and really enjoy them. I like several of the new patterns but some of the members here consider the new range to be inferior to the old. I frankly ca...

Re: Would Glenroyal cloth make up as a 2 piece suit?

I do not think so but would defer to anyone with actual experience. I am probably harder on clothes than most but I think that Glenroyal - while a great jacketing - is a little too soft and open for trousers. I have coats in two Glenroyal patterns that have held up quite well over ten years of wear ...

Re: Sized Bow Tie? (No adjustable clips)

Both Budd and New & Lingwood stock formal and semi-formal sized bow ties (or did as of a few years ago).

I have turnback cuffs on a few suits and like them for a change of pace. I believe, however, that the cuffs have to be reasonably deep to look good (like storeynicholas's and unlike those in the other photos).

Lesser has, or had, what I thought was a quite dynamic sharkskin among the 13oz range (2766 maybe?). I am sure I have a suit made from Lesser's 16 oz cloth in the lighter sharkskin patten which is much more subdued than the 13 oz options I recall. I am not an authority on Smith's (or any other) clot...

On this note, my favorite quality cloth (for suitings at any rate) is Lesser's 16oz range. What was once a fairly large range of conservative patterns, however, has been much depleted and not yet renewed when last I checked. I had heard that Lesser would be coming out with a new 16oz range. Does any...

This suit looks great and I think 14 oz is a very practical weight. I have two DBs in 15/16 oz Minnis cloth and do not find them appreciably warmer than my other suits. Most of my suits, however, are 16 oz, and I do not own anything lighter than 13 oz. I think cloth weight is very much a personal th...
