Re: How warm is flannel?
Yes, I must agree with that Costi.. What you are saying is " Let the cloth be what it is ". As usual.. you make sense. To me, there is nothing better than an old worn Flannel suit. In the lining of my customers pant, I am thinking ahead for them. Playing it safe.. Were I to make myself a Flannel su...

Re: Good shirtmaker in UK
Those with experience from some of the better known shirtmakers could probably do comparison of cut, fit and construction of these makers. From my casual observations, it seems like the London shirtmakers favour a roomier cut while the Parisians ones like a closer fit. Shirts are definitely one of t...

Kid mohair blue odd jacket
I saw some Halstead English kid mohair wool 60/40 mix cloth in summer weight which got me thinking about using some of the blues in the bunch as a summer odd jacket. Do you think kid mohair wool mix is too crisp for a blue odd summer jacket with patch pockets?

Re: Looking for reccomendations for open weave wool
I've used Dugdale S100s as well. It's a joy to work with and wear, but it does not breath at all. Definitely avoid Supers or any sort of twill-based weave if you're looking for breathability. If you are really looking for comfort (breathability) and crease-resistance, I would recommend the Harrison...

Re: Looking for reccomendations for open weave wool
Try look for some Halstead. The Explorer book has some porous weave wool and wool/mohair from 8oz to about 12oz.

Re: Crepe Soled Boots
Try Church's Sahara. They are made from unlined suede. Very light and comfortable. Sanders also have some but they are lined.

Re: Shell cordovan dress shoes - advice needed
Hello again Kamil, I guess that since you already own a pair of shell cordovan shoes and you are considering to have a second pair made, there is nothing I can say to make you change your mind. But I´ll try (as an owner of 3 pairs of Alden SC bought last century and still in use). I do not think th...

Re: Johnstons of Elgin
I'd vote for an overcoating in broad herringbone, grey, circa 700g.

Does Johnstons have a 600-700g dark grey herringbone tweed that would work as a city overcoat? Thanks.

Re: Hopsack options
The Cloth Club's navy Mistral would be ideal for a navy blazer.Hopefully there will be a reissue. I have the grey Mistral and is one of my favourite cloth from the Cloth Club. http://thelondonlounge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9807&hilit=navy+mistral Agreed that the Mistral is a very nice hopsack...

Re: Hopsack options
There was some navy serge Whole Fleece but I think it is sold out already. The other alternative is some 16oz H. Lesser serge.

Re: Hopsack options
Most hopsack I have seen are suitings, including those you mentioned. They lack a pronounced weave to make a sporty blazer IMHO. If you are going to consider hopsack suitings for a blazer, you could also look into navy serge suitings. The heavier cloths circa 15oz and up are much nicer in a serge th...

Re: What do I do when my respected tailor does poor work?
Recently, I was in a café beside Drakes on Clifford street and sat next to two Savile Row employees. I couldn't help overhear their conversation in which they enthusiastically agreed that the "discerning" customers and a pain to work for as they insist you get it right, whereas the "less informed" ...

Amazing how rumours are spread and perpetuated. Will wrote:Hopefully it will help the business but it is mildly funny that the new A&S book to be officially published this week brags that they do not offer any sort of RTW or MTM. Someone apparently forgot to change the manuscript.
