Re: Journeyman Bespoke Advice
Thank you very much. LL has delivered wonderfully yet again. The suits were all made by the same tailor, but I have a feeling that I might have received a "lemon". The trousers were also missing the key button on the waist band so I will be sending the suit back to have the trousers repaired in any ...

Journeyman Bespoke Advice
I'm not sure if this warrants it own topic, but I would appreciate the any guidance from more experienced bespeakers on what to tell my tailor to adjust my suit pattern. I recently received a new suit from my tailor (not based in my city unfortunately) and something about it is less comfortable and ...

I think the base is just yellowed from age.ballmouse wrote:It seems like to me the B&W photos actually show more contrast of the jacket's colors.arch wrote:I wonder how many of the old fawned over B + W photos enhanced the reality of a rather pedestrian patterns?

Re: new restaurant in NYC - Charlie Bird
This has become a very hard table to get! I really only go out to eat on Friday and Saturday nights and no luck at Charlie Bird so far.

Re: Second commission advice!
Harry,
If your user name is a refernce to Tom Brown's School Days or George McDonald Fraser's series then bravo.
I woudl go with a 13oz worsted from Smiths or Lesser. Very substaintal cloth, classic cloth that looks elegant at night and correct but interesting during the day.

Re: Fox flannel advice pls
The stock Fox Flannel grey herringbone flannel is very nice. I personally think that the stock mid grey flannels they make have a big of a greyish greenish cast which I dont like but the cloth is very good and the pattern is easy subtle enough to be worn to work. The London Lounge Flannel is expecti...

Re: Casual, not denim
Assuming you are not looking for a wool, tailored option: I like very dark & rich burgundy, purple, midnight blue or green corduroys or moleskins and a dark navy jacket for a night out in the winter when a suit would be too much. I think the slightly reflective sheen the nap of these fabrics gives i...

Re: Tweed Odd Jacket Cloth & Details
emc894, From your post of November 12, 2012 you asked for a 2 button front and 3 button cuff. Did you get the front that you wanted with 4 button cuff? If so, I would accept the coat and train myself to enjoy it despite the mistakes. Of course, this is an easy call for me since I prefer 4 cuff butt...

Re: Tweed Odd Jacket Cloth & Details
Thank you for your advice everyone. Unfortunately, a disheartening update: I just received the long awaited tweed jacket in the mail from my tailor and, unfortunately he saw fit to give me a ticket pocket and 4 buttons, when I asked for none and 3. I realize this happens from time to time in bespoke...

Re: Beginner bespoke
I would get a mid or oxford grey flannel. It is more casual than worsted but you can still wear it to work and it is very elegant, comfortable and adaptable.

Geo F Trumper is very well known as a barber and shaving cream brand. I have never had a haircut there though. Somewhere in West End definitely seems like it would be your best bet.

Re: Tweed Odd Jacket Cloth & Details
No love for patch pockets? For a long time, I had wonderful black and white herringbone tweed jacket from Brooks Bros w/ welt breast and lower flapped patch pockets. Single vent, air force blue lining. I gave it away when I got a nice Breanish black and gray herringbone w/ three open patches and do...

Re: Tweed Odd Jacket Cloth & Details
Very helpful all, thank you. I seem to be suspectible to slightly louche suggestions (and not just from tailors!). I'll keep the ticket pocket so the tailor doesn't get too bored.

Re: Skyfall
'Roll in the hay' is one way of putting it... I was 13 at the time and recently watched Goldfinger again. I now thought the scene rather shocking and quite ridiculous: James Bond rapes Pussy Galore, who then falls in love with him. Perhaps it had to affirm the then popular myth of "if a gir...
