Re: 2019 shirtmaker recommendations.

I agree with 100hands.

But the summum is Lanvin. Marc Lawers, their shirtmaker, is the most detailed and careful shirt maker and a truly nice man. He was recommended to me by Maria Fritollini. The price is a bit higher than 100hands. I have tried many shirtmakers and he is definitely the best.

Re: Bespoke shirtmaker

I have been searching for a shirtmaker ever since Mary Frittolini stopped working.
A friend suggested Camiceria Sabatini in Rome.
Any views?

Re: Extra Virgin Suicide

Of course Michael is absolutely right about the 6 dollar olive oil.

I can tell you that as a producer.

Re: Extra Virgin Suicide

Italian olive oil is the Loro Piana of olive oils: more brand than essence I don't find it has any advantage compared to other Mediterranean olive oils--especially top Spanish and Greek olive oils. Greek olive oil is the real deal. I would advise fellow members to try it. Finally the economic crisis...

Re: A well aged cigar

Luca
Just like wines some cigars should be smoked young while others improve with age.
Ageing should definitely happen in the box. Some people say that very good humidors (like Elie Bleu) are appropriate for ageing. I do not think so. I believe ageing in the box is the only way to go.

Re: First bespoke - visiting Italy's south

I have suits from both Caraceni and Ripense. In Caraceni you have to go with their style but they execute it flawlessly. Ripense is very tourist friendly. They travel around Europe as well. If you live in Europe they might visit you in your city. I would recommend them with no hesitation. Most of th...

Re: Santa Maria Novella: Citrus advice?

Maybe you should also try Zagara from Santa Maria Novella

Also Maitre Gantier Parrfumeur and l'Artisan parfuemeur have a quite a few you might like. Please check their websites. I am a lover of all things Italian. But I think in perfumes and wines the French are ahead!

Re: Affordable Bespoke/MTM Shoes?

I have also used GianLuca. He is excellent and he will work from existing styles (if you go to his shop in Rome that means around 60-70 styles or maybe more). But he will also work with you to accommodate all your requests. He is both professional and inspired. The soles are regularly blake or Blake...

Re: Bespoke...the journey begins

most southern Italians do not offer a structured style.

As for fabrics my experience is that Italians love english suitings more than anyone else. At least the Italian tailors that i have worked with.

Yialabis
Can you please disclose the name of your tailor in Athens?
This would be a precious secret because you have obviously spent time and energy to "train" him in this style of tailoring.

Re: Bespoke...the journey begins

If you were thinking of Rubinacci why don't you try his "cousin" Anderson & Sheppard? I have been very happy with them. Just make sure you like their soft tailoring style. if you travel to Rome there are a few good tailors. I have used Sartoria Ripense and I am happy with them. I have also heard goo...

Re: Tonik - Should I Take the Plunge?

Mohair? Yes by all means! I was 19 years old in 1986 when my late father took me to a tailor to make a suit for my sister's wedding. My father insisted that I choose a Mohair suit. And thank god he did. I still have the suit and it still looks like it has just be delivered freshly ironed from the ta...
