Re: What do I do when my respected tailor does poor work?
Dear all Thank you very much for all your advice and comments. It's been very helpful. I have done a lot of reflecting, and I guess I have to learn from this experience and move on. The love for beautiful tailoring is too big to let these experiences stop me. But I have to admit that I'll probably m...

What do I do when my respected tailor does poor work?
All I am a client with a tailor at the row, not one of the big names, but someone who is respected and probably a member of the LL. My first suit was beautifully made and I was very pleased. The second one had some problems. As i do not live in England, I had it mailed to me after the agreed number ...

Very nice. I noticed some comments on the length. I think it's perfect, but then I am not a major fan of Thom Browne. I also find the checked patterns the right size for a sportcoat. I would probably opt for smaller patterns if you go for a full suit. Thanks a lot for sharing. Great inspiration for ...

I certainly look forward to further EG alternatives. I am not happy with the EG quality. The leather at the heel of my last EG was too soft and the shoe became misshaped. The response from EG was that I was driving my car too much(!) and the shoe got out of shape because I had it at an angle when dr...

Unfortunately I can't help you with your specific request, but I would recommend you call Oger, the leading men's store in Amsterdam. If anybody knows, it would be them. http://www.oger.nl/.

Books on British and Italian style
I have enjoyed quite a few excellent style books lately: Alan Flusser's latest, "Cary Grant: A celebration of style", and my favourite: Mr Antongiavanni's "The Suit: A Machiavellian Approach to Men's Style". After some failures, including with a terrible British tailor whose name shall be forgotten ...

I had some shirts made by T&A last year. Although not based in London, I got my measurements made by their bespoke service in Jermyn street (or actually the side street to J). The first sample I got was really bad. So I brought it with me on my next trip to London and had it reviewed. Alterations we...

Heel problems with Edward Greens
I own several pairs of Allen Edmonds and Church and decided a few months ago to upgrade to a pair of Edward Greens. Although they are comfortable like nothing else I have tried, the heel cap is sort of being skewed or "slides" out to the right. First I though it could be the narrow heel base of an E...

I like to stay at one of the Firmdale hotels, a group of six quite different hotels, all which have a modern English style, ref http://www.firmdale.com/index.html. My favourite is the Charlotte Street hotel just north of Soho. Best English breakfast I've ever had. If money is no issue, and if you wa...

Am I the only one using the original green RL? My wife doesn't like it, but I love it, especially on cold days. So it happens that I pull it out from the drawer every now and then... Btw, I read an article a couple of years ago about bespoke perfume. If my mind serves me correctly, there is small re...
