Re: Brora 646 and denim
Still on my list to do. I can’t think there are any surprises in it. If you like tweed of that flavor, go forth.

Re: Bow Ties
They can be a pleasant novelty, and more than a practical consideration for psychiatrists not wishing to be strangled by patients. I remember having mine complimented on the street or in a store by a complete stranger in Kyoto. Japanese relationship with Ivy style might have built a different subtex...

Re: London lounge mohair (midnight) suit or tuxedo
Very nicely made. I don’t care for midnight blue dinner clothes, but this fabric would make an excellent suit for a night out. One length for me only. Now to choose a tailor and DB vs SB…

Re: Morning Suit - advice sought please
I believe the real issue is how formal one wishes to be. The medium grey is suitable for the Royal Enclosure and a summer wedding, although I've read people trashing the King for dressing down at someone else's occasion. If you are surrendering the Japanese Empire, black with striped trousers is def...

Re: Morning Suit - advice sought please
You mean Oxford grey to substitute for black with striped trousers, or mid-grey pick & pick? King Charles wore something of the former to his own wedding, and the latter to everyone else's.

Did General Motors really lay off 5 billion cows to improve the performance of their cars?

Re: Rendenbach soles - are they comfortable?
The shops that offer Rendenbach seem to think it is better than the rest of what they could sell. I don't know if it is actually the best. But perhaps this is an occasion to trust the wine steward re his recommended match for the dinner.

Re: Paris: a buttonhole needing repair
The Valet in Piccadilly Arcade might be able to turn it around if you can post it to them. They seem to have a lot of Savile Row pieceworkers doing stuff for them.
Of course, post-Brexit that may be more complicated. But worth a look.

Re: Special: Dark Navy (Midnight) Blue Piuma
Rangoon is more of a conventional tropical. It makes no special effort to high-twist performance. But it is excellent stuff.

Re: Special: Dark Navy (Midnight) Blue Piuma
The midnight Piuma I have is the pindot pattern, not the solid.
In general, I think of Piuma as being a luxury, lightweight fresco. Finer texture, softer drape than the 10oz Fresco. A bit beefier than the 9oz.

Somehow I thought I'd ordered a bit-- but these pics should push the project over the line if it hasn't got there already.

Re: London lounge mohair (midnight) suit or tuxedo
I haven’t tried this in steamy weather, but I would be disinclined to slot it into that. More of a year round evening thing that could mitigate high temperatures at banquets and opera performances.
