Just FYI, those are the same book. Hodder & Stoughton was the English (and originating) publisher.

I personally don't like them with jackets or when worn without a tie. Perhaps with something like a double breasted blazer, but even then I think it's a little too mixed. Not sure what's appropriate or not, I just don't think it looks right.

Is there anything specific you want? I.e. tailored clothing, accessories, shoes? If you have a morning, I would suggest Barneys, Bergdorf, Saks, and finally Paul Stuart. Barneys has better shoes than Bergdorf and nice high-end RTW tailored clothing if that's your thing. Their house label turns out a...

I do like Plymouth, but I've read that FDR made terrible martinis.

I bought my Brigg from Sterling & Burke (http://www.classicluggage.com/). Price and customer service were both excellent, though the order took a long time as I requested a silver collar.

Huntsman coupon - free second pair of trousers

I was paging through a style magazine published by the Maybourne Hotel Group the other day and noticed a Huntsman ad. What is interesting is that the ad is also a coupon, promising the holder a free second pair of trousers with the order of a suit. I will not be using it. If anyone here will, send m...

When have people been able to meet with him? We spoke tonight and I was given a choice between Saturday at two at Tip Top or coming to his house. My wife and I met with him this past weekend at Tip Top (2pm on Saturday, in fact). I would bet that the time he's giving you for a meeting is when we ar...

Thank you for all the wonderful information, gentlemen. I hope he'll be making all of mine soon.

How long does he average from order to delivery? And I assume there is no fitting, he just measures than delivers, correct?

Dario Rodriguez?

I was in Tip Top this weekend picking up some fabric for a jacket, and Pete mentioned I should try Dario Rodriguez for trousers. I am meeting him this weekend and will start with one pair. I only found one mention in previous posts. Would any members who have used his services care to share their ex...

Chester Jeffries

I have yet to order a pair for myself from Chester Jeffries, but the glovesI have ordered from Chester Jeffries as gifts have been very well received. One pair was for a woman with very small hands, such that she can't wear any RTW gloves. The pair I bought for my wife were very nice as well. The fi...

I'm not a big fan of shorts, personally. But iIf you're going to wear them, you should try J. Crew. They sell them flat front or pleated, 5, 7, 9, or 11 inch long, in about 8 colors.

I think that the calf shoes, the suede shoes, and the waxy brown chelsea boots at half price are very good value. Where else in the US can you buy goodyear welted shoes made in Northampton for under $150? I have the suede brogues. They certainly aren't spectacular, but they are significantly nicer t...

If you're looking for something to read when there (or before) and enjoy mysteries, take a look at Frank Tallis' Mortal Mischief set in fin-de-siecle Vienna.

Full disclosure: I'm working on the US edition of this book.

I love to eat breakfast out. It was one of the things I missed most when in England, a country wonderful at many things, breakfast certainly not one of them. When I moved back and into a new neighborhood, the local 24 hour diner, with their breakfast specials, fresh, on-the-premises--made donuts, fr...

My favorite is a stroll down Jermyn Street from the Circus to Swaine, up the Burlington Arcade, up Bond street, and back down the Row. Can be done in an hour or a lifetime, depending on your patience, purpose, and finances.
