Re: Are the days of tailored clothing numbered?

Mark, how well do New Yorkers handle your bear coat?

It is a thing of beauty and it harkened back to the days of great coats with Astrakhan collars.

Re: Are the days of tailored clothing numbered?

I concur that knitwear is a bespoke adventure worth taking. Especially if you seek the traditional knitters who do this at home using local yarns best suited for their patterns. I do not buy RTW stuff, even by the well known luxury brands. There has been a knitting revival spearheaded by websites su...

Re: Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale: Availability in the US

A tasty and affordable alternative is Saba. It is in no way superior...but a reasonably similar alternative. Unless you have deep pockets, Saba is a good choice to experiment with. It is 1/6th the cost of its balsamic cousin. I throw it into my turkey meatballs (I must lower myself to dark turkey me...

Re: Cloth for first flannel?

Gorina's navy blue wollen flannel at 450 grams in their Franela Fina 71 range #4922 is solid, but the bluer hue males it a better color choice than plain navy However, a blue/navy melange flannel does show up once in a blue moon. https://www.facebook.com/TheMerchantFox/photos/a.1632867963601275.1073...

Re: Summer Flannel

I got to wear my summer flannels in the Florida Keys middle of July, with day weather in the 90s (high humidity), and evening in the low to mid 80s. Once you get sweaty, even after a recent cold shower, the heat was too much to enjoy the dove grey summer flannel. I found solace only in linen...cotto...

Re: Evening Tails (White Tie)

As to the waistcoat, I made one in white pique and the other using the tailcoat cloth, but here is a double breasted version I might make up as a 3rd option: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm247/ay329/Mobile%20Uploads/image.jpg Don't let your Tails collect dust in the closet while awaiting that ...

Re: Dinner suit in midnight blue

If you will not put a flower through the lapel hole, then do not get it

But if you choose the awesome stuff through Gentlemans Gazzette, then make sure the lapel hole works

Re: Dinner suit in midnight blue

I recently commissioned a midnight blue evening dress tails and love the color Go for a mohair/barathea wool in 13oz (390-400gm). Any heavier & it becomes warm in doors (especially when dancing or making out with chicks) If you are worried about the shirt, vest and DB jacket will be too warm...then ...

Re: Rozsnyai Shoes

This shoe looks excellent. Nice Alt Wein pattern...love the 360 degree double geyser stitching all around....so elegant

Maybe on your next commission you might consider steel eyelets to complete that gunboat look

Is the last design based on a Budapester raised rounded toe box?

Screaminmarlon...where did you find the cloth...nice find. I could only find enough to make cloth to make a trouser from another Huddersfield mill in that weight Tell us, how does the jacket feel...I'm just afraid to pull the trigger on a jacket? I like how my mohair feels...but it does scratch no a...

Re: New bespoke shoes , Athenian shoemaker

Yialabis, was the last maker also in Athens?

And who made the shoe trees?

This is a real find as all my sources told me the Athenian shoe trade had become extinct

Did she also make the last?

Did she make the entire shoe...clicker, finisher and attached the soles to the upper too?
