Cloth for hunt coats

Can anyone recommend a good book of cloth for hunt evening coats, specifically a dark blue cloth? The older hunt tails that one sees from time to time appear to be doeskin - is that a guess correct? If so, are Hainsworth (http://www.hainsworth.co.uk/apparel/uniform/) a good bet?

Thank you in advance.

Morning Dress alive and well

While there have been several threads on this forum concerning weddings in warmer climates, and alternatives to morning dress, I'm pleased to observe that morning dress seems alive and well in England. Of the three weddings I've attended this year, almost every male guest was in morning dress of som...

Re: Single-ended Bow Tie

Concordia,
It just doubles back, so it's tied as normal, and if it's the same length, it doesn't require to be tucked anywhere.

Re: Single-ended Bow Tie

Concordia, The single ended tie should be exactly the same length as the now-conventional double ended one, and the plain end is simply an extension of the neckband band finished with a square end. Simply, that plain end sits behind the bow-shaped end, and is hardly seen, save from the side or sligh...

Re: The role of bespoke in a relaxed environment

Do any others of you use instagram to share your tailors' creations? As it's perhaps easier to share pictures on instagram than here, I'm sure we'd be interested to see these.

Re: Knight's rules

One interesting aspect to this, in England, is the eventual separation between 'court' and 'country'. The idea of a knight usually looks to a central authority, a fons honorum, from which status is derived and such status is clearly defined. A person is always invested with the regalia and status of...

Re: Perfumes

My recent discovery has been Guleran's Habit Rouge, which I noticed because this company (http://www.meschaussettesrouges.com) use it on their packages before delivery. Does anyone else have any experience of this scent?

Re: The role of bespoke in a relaxed environment

In my work in London, the norm is either a three piece suit or double breasted suit, every day. Very few exceptions. And stiff collars almost every day. So I don't have to worry about standing out. On the rare days I don't have to meet clients, and can stay in chambers, I'd probably wear tweed and o...

Cobblers!

Today, I suffered another pair of shoes being ruined by a local (and formerly competent) cobbler in West London. Can anyone here can recommend a central London cobbler capable of doing an honest workmanlike repair, and actually stitching a sole onto a shoe, rather than lazily relying on glue?

Re: Cloth for first casual tweed suit

After sending off for endless samples, I think I've narrowed the choice down to grey (as I'll probably have more university teaching use than time in the country), and so these three are currently the most likely: http://www.intweed.co.uk/goods-for-sale/medium-weight-tweeds/medium-weight-lovat-mill-...

Re: Recommend a trimming supplier

I had a very similar braid to the fancy on an inherited 1930s pair of DJ trousers (not for tails). That was, until moths attacked. I wouldn't say it was out of place at all.

Looks an interesting company - do they sell direct to the public?
