Trip report: I went to Steven Hitchcock to place an order for a new suit and to get fitted. I mentioned to Steven that I was going to try Smiths for shirting fabric and he seemed quite sure they did not carry shirting fabric. He helped me give Smiths a ring and sure enough, Smiths don't have shirtin...

Where to Buy Fabric in London
Apologies for my ignorance, I am making a short trip to London and was hoping to purchase suit and shirt fabric. Does anyone have any suggestions where to go?

I own two RTW Emma Willis shirts, I like them very much. I bought them at 50 Pounds each on sale, I thought they were well worth the money at that price. Nice cloth, well constructed and for the french cuffed shirt, the cuff is a good size! (so rare.) If you are looking at their RTW, you should chec...

Boateng is ok, someone in my office wears their made to measure stuff pretty well. You have to be quite tall and lean to wear it and I find the gorge too high for myself. Quality is ok but not top flight. Good, slightly flashy, perhaps clubby clothes, try Designworks, Brown or Liberty. Depends on yo...

ER, The original poster said he last went when he was 16 and he said Oxford St. was quite stylish back then. Given that Oxford St. hasn't seen a stylish men's store for quite a while now, I'd say he's at least bit older than 16. The only exception I could think of is Selfridges. Which is why I put ...

I don't know about fashion "areas" but I can name quite a few boutiques for better fashion/streetwear. Spencer Hart, Evisu, B-Store on Savile Row Browns on New Molton St Designworks on 42 Broadwick St in SoHo behind Carnaby Street Agnes B, Paul & Joe and Paul Smith on Floral St near Covent Garden St...

Try Emma Willis. They only have one fit, and it is slim fit with high arm holes. Also, if you wear french cuffs, they tend to make a fairly tight cuff which is most welcome. They go on sale at the store on Jermyn St. every once in a while and their shirts will be between £50-100 during that period. ...

Leon: This is my first waistcoat and like you, I was always under the impression that you leave the bottom one undone. However, the cutter at the store said you can and probably should button the bottom one as well. The "bottom button unbuttoned" rule on waistcoats only applies to if there is a show...

Spencer Hart, Timothy Everest, MtM and Bespoke
Spencer Hart and Timothy Everest This is me chipping in with my made-to-measure experiences at Timothy Everest and Spencer Hart. Not really names that you see on this forum but it's always nice to widen a community's knowledgebase. I also have a few comments on made-to-measure vs bespoke at the end....

A Vote of Confidence for TM Lewin
A lot of people on this forum are quite pleased with the quality and fit of TM Lewin shirts and as someone who recently bought one, I concur. My workplace gives hefty discounts on TM Lewin shirts (27 pounds per shirt) which made it an even better deal. I'm on the small side, around 36 around the che...
