Changing money in use
One side effect of the Pandemic has been the vastly inreased use of plastic cards over cash be that treasury notes or coins. In many shops proffering even such a note as a fiver is frowned upon. Has anyone changed the type or shape of wallet to cope with this or even pockets fitted to new commission...

Re: Morning Dress alive and well
It's good to see so many from the congregation properly dressed these days. Sadly no top hats in evidence, doubtless entrusted to the parson for safe keeping.

Re: Inside information
One of the common playthings for anyone commissioning a bespoke suit is the opportunity to be fussy about inside pockets. Being right handed, I have always preferred an inside chest pocket on the left. I remember at school, that inside pocket was the inner sanctum in which all kinds of fun (usually...

How soon? It would be good to see one of your commissions in some detail, profile, back/front with and without the coat and the inside of the coat. It sounds a lot but does enable both the cutters skills as well as those of the tailor.

Re: Inside information
Interesting, like some I have had several bespoke pockets inside the coat of my suits over the years; pen pockets, iPhone pockets, breast pockets, ticket pockets etc. I even reached eight at one point. Breast pocket either side (left phone, right breast wallet on some occasions), pen pocket (Left) p...

Re: Huntsman
They've been moving the cutters and tailors to less desirable surroundings in the shop and stressing a new style of shorter--some say typically gay-- jackets. No idea how well the old clients are getting by, but at least one shop was disappointed to see the old Huntsman disappear. I think to associ...

Re: Homburg or Coke/Bowler Hat
I fear these days that the bowler hat would be regarded as costume save in some very specific circumstances such as elderly judges going to court or else retired army officers going to a remembrance parade. The other use which is slightly damning is the habit of Ulster Unionists wearing them as part...

Re: first journey into bespoke
One question I forgot to ask. How big a deal is it for all the work to be done in house as opposed to sending the garment out for sewing? Thanks. Grayson That's a pretty arbitrary distinction, as much as some internet denizens would like to think otherwise. Most individual tailors in London are tec...

Re: The cost, margin and value of (British) bespoke
it was an interesting post. That said, I was a bit surprised by 100 GBP for buttons and lining, etc. Really? At wholesale? I find that blog is very mixed. The writer has a real talent for evoking the loveliness of fine clothes but at the same time seems transparently to be shilling for the business...
